    <strong><u>Campus Life Operations Graduate Assistant</u></strong><br>
    </div>
    <span>The incumbent will work on site in The Commons.  They will be responsible for direct supervision and management of the Gameroom and the Campus Information Center areas consisting of approximately 20 student staff members.  In addition, they will help supervise and support Campus Life Operations with building management, maintenance, staff supervision, and training.  </span><br><br><span>Requirements:</span><br><br><span>- A flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends</span><br><span>- Ability to perform manual labor including moving furniture and equipment up to 50lbs</span><br><span>- Customer service experience</span><br><span>- Ability to manage emergency situations (i.e., building evacuation, shelter-in-place, injuries, etc).</span><br><span>- Perform other duties as assigned</span><br><br><div>Preferred Experience:<br><br>- Performing building maintenance including working with power tools and paint<br>- Using and troubleshooting audio-visual equipment like projectors, laptops, tablets, displays, etc.<br>- Doing elevated work on ladders and motorized scissor lifts<br><br>Please submit a cover letter and resume to Abdias A.     <div><strong>What is PROMISE?</strong></div>

    <div>PROMISE is the Maryland AGEP, initially founded in 2003 by the National Science Foundation, this program has been serving students from underrepresented backgrounds to aid them to successfully complete their degrees. During the academic year we host events, seminars and workshops to boost professional development of students to better prepare them for a successful career. </div>

    <div><strong>About the Welcome event</strong></div>

    <div>This program focuses on connecting graduate students, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds currently working towards their higher education degrees (masters, doctoral degree, professional studies). We aim to provide guidance and tools to ensure your success in completing your degree and create a sense of community during your tenure in grad school. </div>

    <div>We have Dr. Canessa Swanson and Dr. Alexis Williams who will be sharing some insights about their graduate experience! You will be paired with peers from the same areas of research from different institutions and you will have the opportunity to meet staff and administrators from your institution.</div>

    <p>The DoIT Technology Support Center is looking to hire additional consultants to work during the fall semester and beyond.     <p><br>Tuesdays 2pm-8pmWe're specifically looking for students available to work during the following hours:</p>
    <ul>
    <li>Wednesdays 8am-2:30pm</li>
    <li>Thursdays 8am-12pm</li>
    <li>Fridays 8am-12pm</li>
    <li>Saturdays 12pm-6pm</li>
    </ul>
    <h3>TSC Student Consultant Job Description</h3>
    <p>Technology Support Center (TSC) student consultants are the first points of technical contact for the UMBC community and those who do well often go on to work in other areas of the Division of Information Technology (DoIT). Minimally, consultants are expected to provide initial triage and support for a wide range of information technologies including accounts, hardware, instructional technologies, networking, software, telecommunications, and basic web development.</p>
    <h4>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:</h4>
    <ul>
    <li>Provide technical assistance to users by phone, online and in person;</li>
    <li>Answer TSC phones in a professional and courteous manner;</li>
    <li>Create, update and resolve tickets in the Request Tracker (RT) ticketing system;</li>
    <li>Create, update, suggest and recommend relevant FAQ articles to users (<a href="http://www.umbc.edu/faq" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">www.umbc.edu/faq</a>);</li>
    <li>Provide direct assistance to users on technical issues they cannot easily resolve on their own;</li>
    <li>Respond to all work-related communications in a timely manner;</li>
    <li>Escalate urgent problems to the Full-Time staff, as appropriate.</li>
    </ul>
    <h4>Required Skills and Experience</h4>
    <ul>
    <li>Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate by phone or in person.</li>
    <li>Demonstrated writing ability.</li>
    <li>Demonstrated ability to achieve successful outcomes in handling difficult situations and customers.</li>
    <li>Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills.</li>

    <p>University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) has partnered with 3rd Millennium, whose mission is to help students address critical life skills such as alcohol abuse prevention, drug abuse prevention, relationship violence prevention and sexual assault prevention, in high schools and higher education institutions across the country.</p>
    <p>As part of our comprehensive prevention program for new incoming first year and/or transfer undergraduate and graduate students, UMBC requires that undergraduate students complete Alcohol-Wise and Other Drugs and graduate students complete Other Drugs. These online courses will empower you to make healthy, well-informed decisions about issues that affect your college years and beyond.</p>
    <p>Important: For each of the courses: </p>
    <ul>
    <li>Part 1 is due August 13, 2021 and</li>
    <li>Part 2 is due October 22, 2021 [Alcohol-Wise ONLY]</li>
    </ul>
    <p>All courses open July 2, 2021.</p>
    <p>Alcohol-Wise For College </p>
    <ol>
