Its amazing to see how much is going on at UMBC and how many creative and different events are available to students. I've always wanted to study politics, and could never justify taking courses outside of my concentration. But I have recently discovered that interdisciplinary studies and the ability to train yourself to find common ground between seemingly unrelated subject areas is the key to success in any field. Like Abraham Maslow once said, "If you only have a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail." My experience at UMBC has allowed me to understand the importance of a broad range of subject areas and appreciate all of my classes. Haha, well, most of them at least...</span></span></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>

    </span></span></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>
<div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><span><span>A: </span><span>There is always something to do on this campus. If you want to get the most out of college, get involved! And involvement isn't limited to attending organizations' meetings. Take leadership roles, ask questions, make connections with student organizations, and most importantly, voice your opinions. Believe it or not, this campus responds very well to student initiatives. One interesting fact about UMBC is that every student here is a member of the SGA, whether or not you hold an elected or appointed office. So have fun at UMBC and don't be afraid to make your voice heard!</span></span></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>

Kelly, a biology major and future veterinarian, has done extensive work to protect and advocate for animals.  She volunteers with Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, Inc. <div><div><div><div><div><span><span>A: </span><span>The most important thing(s) I've learned have been to cherish every moment as well as never lose sight of the big picture. Our daily lives can bog us down at times and cause us to get discouraged, but we all came to UMBC with a goal in mind. Whether this goal is to go to grad school or simply have a good time, it's always good to remember what you set out to do when you accepted UMBC's admission offer. Cherishing all of the memories simply makes life that much sweeter.</span></span></div></div></div></div></div>

<div><div><div><div><div><span><span>A: </span><span>The rock garden between Commons Drive and Admin Drive is a great place to go and clear your head. It's quiet and peaceful. At least until the semester’s stress subsides, I’m not sure most </span><span>students realize just how much time, creativity, and care most of my </span><span>colleagues put into their teaching and how sincerely they want their </span><span>students to succeed. But success does not mean an A along the path of </span><span>least resistance; it means acquiring the knowledge as well as the subtler </span><span>skills, demeanors and habits that mark an educated person and predict </span><span>long-run success in one’s studies and career.</span></span></div></div></div></div></div>

Getting to represent my </span><span>school with something I am good at, with friends who enjoy it as much as I, is the thing I enjoy the most. Making sure our finances are straight, so </span><span>that we get to put on a good show, out of town and for the good people of UMBC, is the role that lets me do that, so that would have to be the role I m</span><span>ost enjoy.</span></span></div></div></div></div></div></div>

There are some fantastic professors there. Also, the sky-walks between </span><span>AC-Row, they are your best friend in a Rain/Snow/Hail/Wind/Heat Storm which, being UMBC, we see all the time.</span></span></div>
