The Department of Music presents UMBC Jazz in Concert under the direction of Matthew Belzer, featuring all of the UMBC jazz groups, large and small, and spotlighting student compositions.

Join Maryland Traditions, the folklife program of the Maryland State Arts Council, in honoring three outstanding stewards of our state’s living cultural traditions in a public ceremony and concert.

The ceremony will feature this year’s recipients: in the category of Person, documentary story quilter Joan M.E. Gaither of Anne Arundel County; in the category of Place, the Baltimore American Indian Center; and in the category of Tradition, the Deal Island Skipjack Races and Festival.

The evening will conclude with a country blues concert by the Phil Wiggins Blues House Party. Bandleader and harmonica player Wiggins, of Takoma Park, was honored earlier this year with a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts — the nation’s highest honor in the folk and traditional arts.

The Department of Music presents the Jubilee Singers under the direction of Janice Jackson.

The performance will be followed immediately by the UMBC Gospel Choir at 8 p.m.

UMBC’s Gamelan Ensemble, directed by Gina Beck, perform traditional Javanese music on the Department of Music’s Javanese gamelan.

The Walters Art Museum has a full time opening for a dynamic and energetic individual to work in the Museum Advancement Division as the Development Coordinator. The Development Coordinator manages and expands the pool of donors ($1,000 and above), institutional donors, and committee and governance prospects through comprehensive and proactive research. Reporting to the Development Manager, this position provides ongoing donor stewardship and cultivation support across the Development Department through the use of prospect research and moves management.

The Administrative Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer of the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts is a regular full time non-exempt position, reporting to the COO. Primary responsibilities are to assist with a wide range of Finance/Admin Department related office functions in addition to coordinating the volunteer program.
