Are you looking to start you own company but don’t know where to begin?  If so, then you might want to consider the graduate course in Entrepreneurship (ENMG 690/BTEC 690) being offered this fall.  The course was developed by one of UMBC’s experienced technology entrepreneurs, Dr. Sheldon Broedel (currently the CEO of AthenaES).  Using different startup approaches, the course is designed to be practical guide to company creation.  By the end of the course, each student will have developed the basis for launching, if they haven’t already, a new enterprise.  Alumni of this course have already launch companies with several more in the making.  For more information, contact Dr. Sheldon Broedel at broedel@umbc.edu.

Baltimore Choral Arts is seeking a part-time Box Office Manager.

Baltimore Choral Arts is one of Maryland’s premier professional cultural institutions. Led by Music Director Tom Hall, the Emmy Award winning chorus performs throughout the mid-Atlantic region, as well as in Washington, DC, New York, and Europe. The chorus is featured regularly in performances with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and its commitment to education and outreach programs into the community touch thousands of school children, senior citizens and others who could not afford to attend a concert.

Center Stage (LORT B) is accepting applicants for the position of Associate Production Manager. Responsible for assisting the Director of Production in the leadership, management, and oversight of all Production areas including the Lighting, Sound, Costume, Props, Scenery, Multimedia, and Stage Management Departments. We seek a Presentation Specialist with previous professional experience in frame building and archival framing methods. The Presentation Specialist will work in the framing department, coordinating with the Senior Framer, Print Manager and Studio Director. This candidate must be detail oriented, committed to perfection, highly organized, and able to manage multiple assignments. Good communication skills are mandatory when working with clients to help manifest their vision. Candidate must be a problem solver, a tinkerer, an engineer, and an innovator.

The High Zero Foundation, a small, vital nonprofit group that runs a weekly experimental music series and produces two music festivals each year in Baltimore is looking for a part time book keeper to assist with ongoing transactions, preparing tax time, and reporting. Optimally, we are looking for someone skilled who lives in or near Hampden (where we are located) and who is willing to make bank deposits, can work in Quickbooks Online, and is willing to work very part time (we have some burst of activity, but probably less than 300 transactions a year), on an hourly basis.

The Artistic Director of the West Chester University Poetry Conference will be responsible to direct the artistic activities of the 2016 Conference by securing commitments from members of the poetry community to provide readings, panels, and workshops. The Director will establish a program that can be implemented within the confines of the budget provided by the CAS Dean and the CAS Programs Manager. The Director will provide assistance to the university in the selection of the Iris N. Spencer Poetry Award winners and scholarship recipients for the conference.

Reporting to the Chair of the Music Department, the General Assistant will work closely with the PAHB Building Manager, Music Manager and Business Services Specialist, Director of Recording, Music Technical Coordinator, Music Administrative Assistant, Music Faculty, and guest artists.
