Election Night Extravaganza T-Shirt, November 6, 2012. Student Life Archives. Cared for by David Hoffman. University of Maryland, Baltimore County (Baltimore, MD)

In 2004, UMBC's Student Government Association organized a gathering of the UMBC community to watch that year's US presidential election results, talk politics, and enjoy free food, games, and music. The SGA's goal was to make the election a community experience where UMBC students could get involved and excited about political elections while being actively involved in the UMBC community. Over 1,000 students, faculty, and staff members attended the event that would become known as UMBC's first Election Night Extravaganza.

Submission forms will be limited to one page, so you will need to articulate the problem you have identified and your idea succinctly. You will also be allowed to post a video to YouTube in which you can personally pitch your idea to the campus. The videos are not required, but they are encouraged as an effective way to communicate ideas to the review committee. YouTube videos are limited to 60 seconds and creativity is encouraged.
