Ushers and Volunteers for Chesapeake Shakespeare's 2015 - 2016 season

Chesapeake Shakespeare Company is looking for volunteers and ushers to help staff performances for the upcoming season in our beautiful theatre. We need people to scan tickets, show folks to their seats, help sell drinks and concessions, and support the box office. Volunteers are asked to arrive 90 minutes before showtime and we'll probably need about 7-10 volunteers each night. Of course, as a volunteer, you get to see the show at no cost to you, although we can't guarantee you a seat.

Applications for UMBC's Joseph and Frieda Faiman Eisenberg/VPC Endowed Scholarship are now available!

The purpose of the Joseph and Frieda Faiman Eisenberg/VPC Endowed Scholarship is to provide a $500 scholarship award to an outstanding UMBC undergraduate interested in becoming an entrepreneur.

This award is associated with UMBC’s Alex. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship. The scholarship will be awarded for the 2015-2016 academic year.  


The student selected to receive this award should:
  1. Be a full-time degree-seeking student in good standing at UMBC
  2. Submit a personal statement about their interest in entrepreneurship
  3. Submit a resume
  4. Demonstrate an interest in becoming an entrepreneur 
  5. Have a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average

Presented by the Dresher Center, CAHSS Dean's Office, and the Office of Sponsored Programs

This session is designed for faculty seeking external funding for arts and humanities research and scholarship. Participants will learn about the process for preparing and submitting external funding applications at UMBC.

Topics will include:
  • campus resources for locating, preparing, and routing grant and fellowship applications;
  • developing timelines and budgets;
  • submitting applications.

Time will be given for Q & A and (brief) discussions of project ideas.

Lunch provided. Registration is required by October 5, 2015 (enrollment: 25)
