The Dresher Center for the Humanities has two upcoming deadlines for fellowship opportunities

Residential Faculty Research Fellowships - The Dresher Center for the Humanities invites applications for two Residential Faculty Research Fellowships for Spring 2025.
Full-time tenured or tenure-track UMBC faculty, as well as full-time Professors of the Practice, who are pursuing humanities research in College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences are invited to apply for a Residential Faculty Research Fellowship for Spring 2025.
These fellowships offer the gift of time, space, and collegial conversation within a robust humanities center environment and enhance the conversation surrounding inclusive excellence.
Submit completed proposals and letters of support from department chairs or program directors to dreshercenter@umbc.edu.

Graduate Student Research Fellowships - The Dresher Center for the Humanities invites applications for two Graduate Student Research Fellowships for the 2024-25 academic year. One fellowship will be awarded for Fall 2024 and one for Spring 2025. Funding is intended to support and promote promising humanities research by graduate students at UMBC.
The fellowships are open to all UMBC doctoral and master's level students working on humanities-related research projects that will culminate in a dissertation or master's thesis. Proposals will be reviewed by the Dresher Center Advisory Board.

Call for Proposals for 2024-2025 Humanities forum
Since
1987,
the Humanities Forum has offered a free program of events that
illustrate the richness of contemporary work in philosophy, history,
culture, language,
literature, and the arts.
The Forum fosters creative thinking about the role of the
humanities in civic life within our globally interconnected world.
The Dresher Center for the Humanities welcomes
your suggestions for the upcoming season. Proposals will be vetted by the
Humanities Forum Planning Committee in conversation with the Dresher Center
staff. Consideration will be given to
balance across fields and topics as well as orientation towards a public
audience.
All suggestions are welcome so long as they
center humanities issues, topics, methodologies, or questions. Potential areas
of interest for 2024-25:

Celebration of the James Baldwin
100th anniversary
●
Culinary/food studies
●
Indigenous perspectives
●
Questions of incarceration
