CoLab is a 4-week paid summer narrative-based research internship for UMBC undergraduates. Student interns will work on interdisciplinary project teams to conduct research, create effective narratives, and develop public-facing final products that support the goals of on and off campus community organizations and scholars. Open to all majors, this is an excellent opportunity for students in STEM fields to learn to tell effective stories and for students in social science and humanities fields to gain research and technical skills.
Participants receive a $3000 stipend and a tuition scholarship for a 3-credit internship course.
Program Dates
CoLab 2024 will be held during Summer Session One and meets in-person from Monday, June 3rd through Friday, June 28th.
PLEASE NOTE: During these dates, student interns are required to
dedicate Monday through Friday from 9:30 am – 4:00 pm to the in-person
internship.

Just a reminder that the CBIC Is Around the Corner! It's time to start preparing for the annual Cangialosi Business Innovation Competition!
The CBIC is designed for students who are serious about starting a business or social impact venture. Students selected to go to the final competition will be paired with mentors to flesh out their business idea. This year, the Center will offer 2 tracks: The Technology and Innovation Track and The Social Impact Track. Winners in each track will win up to $3,000 with an opportunity to win an additional $2,000 after a 6 month progress review. Here are the important dates to remember:
- Deadline for idea submissions: TODAY February 26 at 1pm!
- Final Event: April 11 from 7 - 9pm

This is the perfect opportunity for students who want to enter the competition to informally pitch their idea to an audience as a way to receive feedback in a casual, relaxed setting.
If you aren't sure you're ready to submit an idea, that's OK! This event is a great time to get feedback on your preliminary idea or existing business, and to find other students interested in helping you. It will also give you a chance to learn more about the ABCEI's competitions and events.
