Dance & Bmore Seeks Stage Manager

The Stage Manager will maintain the rehearsal and performance logistics for upcoming Dance & Bmore productions. The Stage Manager will facilitate communication between the director, creative team, cast, and crew. The Stage Manager will maintain a copy of the script with notes about all blocking and technical cues. The Stage Manager will supervise the pre-show routine and call all technical cues during the show. The Stage Manager will serve as representative of the creative team after the show has opened to maintain the show’s consistency and quality.

YOU'RE INVITED to the 2023 CBIC Final Event

The 2023 CBIC will be held on Thursday, April 20th from 7-9pm in the Skylight Room! This event showcases the finalists from this year's competition entries. The CBIC is an opportunity for UMBC students who are serious about starting a business or social impact venture to pitch their idea to a panel of judges to win money to help launch their venture. 

A networking session with heavy hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be held prior to the event for attendees to meet alumni entrepreneurs, fellow students and community members interested in entrepreneurship.

The Alex. Brown Center has a new opportunity for students who are passionate about entrepreneurship! We are hiring Student Entrepreneurship Ambassadors, also referred to as SEAs!

SEAs will help engage the entrepreneurship community at UMBC through events and campus-wide programming. Members of the group will serve as the student voice of the Alex. In Art 339, students will explore, present, debate, and write about human-derived systems and their relationship to urban communities through group-centered projects that involve sketching, mapping, and model building. Students will understand how Design professionals operate within and alongside systems as entrepreneurial thinkers and organizers of information, people, the built environment, and other human-made systems.

The Dresher Center seeks an Associate Director to work closely with the Director and the Dresher Center team to shape and implement Dresher Center programs, grant proposals, and budget. The Associate Director will assist the Director in strategic decision making and shaping Dresher Center initiatives and goals. The Associate Director will also be responsible for serving in the Director’s place should the Director be unable to attend various Dresher Center activities or programs, or at university events or meetings.

Potential duties for the Associate Director include:
  1. Work with the Center Coordinator to schedule and coordinate Dresher Center workshops such as the "Currents: Works in Progress" series, and the Fellows and Others workshops (scheduling, recruiting/communicating with presenters, drafting/revising descriptions). Attend and facilitate workshops as needed.
  2. With the Dresher Center team, continue to offer HTLabs and other potential programs focused on public and community-engaged research/teaching.
  3. Participate in selecting speakers for the Humanities Forum. Attend, introduce speakers, and host meals as needed.
  4. Help establish and expand Dresher Center programming for undergraduates, in conjunction with both the Dresher Center Director and the Director of the Humanities Scholars Program.
  5. Assist in evaluating Dresher Center activities and writing the Dresher Center annual report.
  6. Attend bi-weekly staff meetings and quarterly Board meetings, participate in strategic planning and budgeting. Attend monthly CAHSS chairs and directors’ meetings.
  7. Assist in administering other center programs as needed.

Open to: Tenure track faculty in humanities fields (minimum: advanced assistant or already tenured). Preference to those who have been formally involved in Dresher Center programs (fellowships, advisory board, Inclusion Imperative programs, etc.)

ABCEI's Student Entrepreneurship Ambassadors (SEAs)

The Alex. Brown Center has a new opportunity for students who are passionate about entrepreneurship! We are hiring Student Entrepreneurship Ambassadors, also referred to as SEAs!
SEAs will help engage the entrepreneurship community at UMBC through events and campus-wide programming. Members of the group will serve as the student voice of the Alex. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (ABCEI), and will be advocates for entrepreneurship programs across campus. To learn more and apply, click here!

"7 Tips for Entrepreneurial Startup Success" 

This Speaker Series event will be held next Wednesday, April 12th from 5-6pm in Commons 331!

This event will feature Marion Vanzie & Tasha Sharif Vanzie. Marion is the Founder & Chief Executive Officer and Tasha is the Chief Strategy Officer of Agile Care Enterprises, LLC. During their presentation titled, "The Vanzie Alchemy: 7 Tips for Entrepreneurial Startup Success", Marion and Tasha will discuss their strategic partnership and process for choosing entrepreneurship as an enterprise model to achieve work-life balance. 

Students, faculty, alumni, and members of the business community are welcome to attend! FREE snacks will be provided!

YOU'RE INVITED to the 2023 CBIC Final Event

This event showcases the finalists from this year's competition entries. The CBIC is an opportunity for UMBC students who are serious about starting a business or social impact venture to pitch their idea to a panel of judges to win money to help launch their venture. 

A networking session with heavy hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be held prior to the event for attendees to meet alumni entrepreneurs, fellow students and community members interested in entrepreneurship.
