UMBC Event & Conferences Services is looking to hire more Ticketing Staff Employees for the 2013-2014 academic year! Ticketing Staff are responsible for selling tickets at the door for student organization events that are planned through our office. 

Responsibilities include welcoming all guests, performers, and organizers, selling and tracking ticket sales, wrist-banding attendees, reconciling all cash transactions at the conclusion of the sale period, and depositing funds into a designated safe.

Most events will occur Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, so weekend availability is required, however; availability during the week is also preferable. This position will offer 5-12 hours per week. Candidates must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA. 

Preference will be given to students who email Jackie Aliotta (jaliotta@umbc.edu), Events Coordinator, with their interest and resume by Friday, May 3rd 2013. Students will be interviewed on a rolling basis.

Important RAC Update from your SGA! Some of our SGA members have been working with the RAC and have an important update for you!

Beginning this summer, the recreational weight room is going under a complete renovation. This is a $75,000-85,000 project that will provide BRAND NEW:
  • flooring
  • dumbbells
  • selectorized machines
  • free weights
  • plated-loaded machines
In addition to this, there is a possibility that the RAC could be further extending its operational hours again next semester.

The new (potential) hours would be:
Monday-Friday: 7am-10pm
Saturday: 12pm-7pm
Sunday: 12pm-10pm.

Again, these hour changes ARE NOT OFFICIAL, but this is something that SGA will work diligently with the RAC and to make a reality.

The SGA is continuing to work to establish a solid line of communication with the RAC and the Athletics Department so that more efforts can be made to get the students' voices heard and establish a better working relationship in the future.

Employers will be discussing expectations for hiring, and will share information about alternative careers. This seminar is for students at all levels, master's and doctoral, including those in their first year of graduate school. It's never too early to develop a network! Some of our UMBC alumni will be present at this event. This seminar utilizes a "speed dating" format to expose students to different sectors of government, industry, and academe.
