Baltimore Underground Science Space (BUGSS) is a non-profit public laboratory offering science communication outreach. They are hosting a Science Slam at Red Emma's on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 4:00 PM and would love it if you could join us as a presenter!
They are almost at capacity for this event and are looking for 2 additional speakers. However, they hope to hold these events quarterly. If you are interested, please reach out and they will note you down for a future event.
Sign up to give a quick 5-minute presentation on your research. This is a perfect opportunity for undergraduate or graduate students. The subject can be any STEM topic of your choosing. The event is geared to the general public. We can help you with tailoring your talk to this audience if needed. Campus Climate Survey for Community, Engagement and Belonging
UMBC is conducting a climate survey to to gather data about UMBC community members' experiences and perceptions of their engagement, belonging, and overall campus climate at UMBC.
All students, faculty, and staff are invited to take the survey from April 1 – May 1, 2025
Those who complete the survey will have the opportunity to enter a random drawing to receive one of the following as a way of saying "thank you" for taking the time to participate in the survey:
Retriever dollars ($25.00 per award)
Flex dollars ($25.00 per award)

A team of UMBC students, faculty, and staff is working with Rankin Climate, an organization with 25 years of climate assessment experience at over 300 campuses on this project.
Will anyone be able to identify my responses?
Confidentiality is vital to the success of the survey. Rankin Climate has taken multiple precautionary measure to ensure anonymity. For more information go to the project website. To ensure confidentiality, raffle prizes and incentive processes happen separate from the survey itself

Survey on International LGBTQ+ Student Experiences
See the letter below to learn more about participating in a study aiming to understand the well-being and media consumption habits of international LGBTQ+ students studying in the U.S.
To whom it may concern,
My name is Layla Chen, and I am writing on behalf of our research team at Boston University College of Communication. We are conducting a study with the help of BU’s LGBTQIA+ Student Resource Center to understand the well-being and media consumption habits of international LGBTQ+ students studying in the U.S.. International LGBTQ+ students may experience identity conflict as they navigate their ethnocultural and LGBTQ+ identities, and we seek to examine this phenomenon with this national survey.
The more insight we obtain beyond the BU campus, the more research rigor and positive impact we have.
Study Details:
Study Purpose:
To inform higher education institutions and researchers about the unique experiences, needs, and stressors faced by international LGBTQ+ students
To guide potential improvements in student support services
Participant Privacy Protection:
All responses are strictly anonymous and confidential
No personal identifiers will be collected in the survey
Email addresses collected for the raffle will only be used for the prize distribution and only be accessible to the research team
