CelebratingOrgs/Student Org Awards!!!
Nominations Deadline Today!!
Attention UMBC student organizations!
Nominations for awards close today, April 3rd, 2024 at 11:59pm.
If you've worked hard throughout the 2023-2024 academic year, you may be interested in receiving an award for your efforts! CelebratingOrgs is an annual end of year event where awards will be presented to honor and recognize student organizations for their valuable work at UMBC. The event is scheduled for
May 2nd, 2024, from 7 pm-10 pm.Nominations for awards, RSVPs, and visual content submissions are now
OPEN! Student organizations can nominate their favorite organizations based on a series of categories.
- To nominate, simply complete the Award Nominations form.
- Nominations for awards will close on April 3rd, 2024 at 11:59 pm.
- If you're a student officer who would like to attend CelebratingOrgs, you can register by completing the RSVP form.
Visual Content
We're also opening up submissions of visual content from student organizations that will be displayed in a slideshow format during the event.
Pictures and videos should be relevant to your student organization such as pictures or videos from your general body meetings, your large or small-scale events your student organization did over the 2023-2024 academic year!
In addition, we're looking for student organization leaders interested in recording short, 30-second to 1-minute video clips answering a question about their experience leading a student organization. These clips will be combined into one video screening that will be presented during CelebratingOrgs. If you're interested, please fill out the attached interest form below, and a Student Government Association officer will reach out to you for further steps!

Meet the Facilitator 2024: Joshua Le
Facilitator of "WHO Do YouThink You Are?"
About the Facilitator:
Joshua Le (He/Him/His) is a Junior Public Health major on the Health Administration track at UMBC. Outside of UMBC, he enjoys playing video games with friends, listening to music, and sometimes writing poetry. Joshua believes that no leaders are born, but made; leadership plays an important role in Joshua’s identity. His goals as a Leadership Peer Facilitator is to guide others to find self-authorship and understand their values. Aside from being a Leadership Peer Facilitator, Joshua takes part in the Student Government Association as a Senator, and is a Grit Guide within the Undergraduate Admissions Office.
About the Leadershop:
“Who am I?” It’s time to be intentional and self-reflect! This workshop focuses on social identity, values, and how these topics come together to build YOU as a leader.
Ice-Breaker: Favorite animal?
My favorite animal has to be the elephant or the snake… or the dragon… but most definitely the elephant. I love elephants because they represent wisdom, and it was also my great-grandmother’s favorite animal as well :D!
The Leadershops series consists of 1 hour workshops that focus on various student centered leadership-related topics facilitated by Campus Life staff and Leadership Peer Facilitators. This program aims to contribute to the leadership development and ongoing learning of UMBC undergraduate students.

Introducing the Graduate School CARE team
In an effort to better support the mental health and well being of our graduate student population, the Graduate School CARE team (Concern, Assessment, Referral and Education) was created to identify, monitor, and support graduate students facing significant obstacles to progress that do not rise to the level of the campus behavioral crisis team (BRACT). Members of the CARE team directly advise and support graduate students, advocate for them and liaise with their program/dept as requested, and refer/connect them to resources on campus that can assist them. As necessary, the CARE team triages with other campus units including BRACT, ISS/CGS, legal, OEI, and RIH.
As trends arise, the CARE team can make recommendations for changes in practice and policy (to the Graduate School, to the Colleges, etc.) that improve student mental health, success and sense of belonging.
