<Title>Finance Board Budgets are Due March 13th @ 11:59 PM</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>Greetings Student Organization, </div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>The finance board budget deadline is approaching fast. Fall semester budgets for Student Organizations are due by 11:59 pm on Friday, March 13th. </div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>To submit a budget to the Finance Board, the organization's treasurer must complete the Finance Board Budget Request training in Blackboard prior to the 13th. If you are unsure if your organization has completed the training, please review this tracker.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Before you submit your budget(s), please use this quick guide to make sure you have all the information you need! If budgets are incomplete, they will not be reviewed or allocated funding. </div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><strong>Checklist for On-Campus Events </strong></div><div><br></div><div>1. Complete Finance Board Budget Request Training in Blackboard</div><div>2. Secure room reservation</div><blockquote><div>a. Invoices are needed if your event is:</div></blockquote><blockquote><blockquote><div>i. In a specialty space (non-academic space)</div></blockquote><blockquote><div>ii. 50+ people are expected to attend </div></blockquote></blockquote><div><br></div><div>Invoices that are dated from a previous year or are for a different event will not be considered </div><div><br></div><div> Begin completing the funding applications. </div><div><br></div><div><ul><li><span>Describe all items you would like to receive funding for in detail. Each line item on the budget should have a description.</span></li><li>Plan your budget around the allocation maximums</li><li>The maximum amount of money that can be allocated to your budget is $33 per undergraduate student, which is listed in your attendance. This total encompasses food as well.</li><li>The maximum amount of food/drink funding is $15 per undergraduate student, which is listed in your attendance </li></ul></div><div><br></div><div>4. At the bottom: Questions? welcomeretrievers@umbc.edu" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto;"></a><h4>What is a Woolie?</h4><p>Woolies are ambassadors for UMBC who help facilitate a smooth transition for new students at UMBC, acting as guides, mentors, and a resource during one of the most important transitions of a student's life.<strong> If you love UMBC and want to make a real difference for the incoming class, this is your opportunit</strong>y.</p><h4>What You'll Do</h4><p>As a Woolie, you'll develop relationships with and encourage a group of new students to engage with events, serve as a resource throughout the first six weeks of the fall semester, and participate in training around topics relevant to welcoming new students to campus.</p><p>Day-to-day, that looks like:</p><ul><li>Playing icebreakers and creating community through small group time</li><li>Encouraging attendance at events like Commons Takeover, Involvement Fest, Big Breakfast and Bingo, and more</li><li>Being a guide to the culture and nuance of UMBC</li></ul><h4><strong>Who We're Looking For</strong></h4><p>We're looking for a diverse group of students who have a desire and the ability to work with people from various backgrounds, excellent communication skills, leadership potential, and a genuine desire to serve the UMBC community.</p><p><strong>You're eligible if you: </strong>Are a current undergraduate student who has completed at least one semester at UMBC and are in good judicial and academic standing (minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA).</p><h4><strong>The Commitment</strong></h4><ul><li>Three (3) one hour virtual sessions: various times over summer</li><li>Virtual outreach to new students : early August</li><li>In-person training: August 19–22, 2026</li><li>In Person Program: August 23 through September 1</li><li>Weekly virtual outreach during the first 6 weeks of the fall semester</li><li>Two hours of event support in September or October.</li></ul><h4>What You Get</h4><p>Woolies receive a $750 stipend, all work-related meals during in-person training and program core dates, early move-in to fall housing with all early move-in fees waived (for on-campus residents), and free Welcome, Retrievers! apparel.</p><h4>How to Apply</h4><p>Applications open March 2 and close March 27 at 11:59 PM.</p>Apply using our <a href="https://script.google.com/macros/s/AKfycbwtLuf3PQICpcGm5s3FTIpyIymO0mV9Q7qjdXJgoZChVQifk5SCvg7t4cOp0iUuUctheQ/exec" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">online Woolie Application! </a><div><br><p>Questions? <Title>Apply to be a Woolie!</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><h4>What is a Woolie?</h4><p>Woolies are ambassadors for UMBC who help facilitate the Welcome, Retrievers! program for new students , acting as guides, mentors, and a resource during one of the most important transitions of a student's life.<strong> If you love UMBC and want to make a real difference for the incoming class, this is your opportunit</strong>y.</p><h4>What You'll Do</h4><p>As a Woolie, you'll develop relationships with and encourage a group of 45–80 new students to engage with Welcome, Retrievers! events, serve as a resource throughout the first six weeks of the fall semester, and participate in training around topics relevant to welcoming new students to campus.</p><p>Day-to-day, that looks like:</p><ul><li>Playing icebreakers and creating community through small group time</li><li>Giving campus and classroom tours and eating meals with new students</li><li>Encouraging attendance at events like Commons Takeover, Involvement Fest, Big Breakfast and Bingo, and more</li><li>Being a guide to the culture and nuance of UMBC</li></ul><h4><strong>Who We're Looking For</strong></h4><p>We're looking for a diverse group of students who have a desire and the ability to work with people from various backgrounds, excellent communication skills, leadership potential, and a genuine desire to serve the UMBC community.</p><p><strong>You're eligible if you: </strong>Are a current undergraduate student who has completed at least one semester at UMBC and are in good judicial, behavioral, and academic standing (minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA).</p><h4><strong>The Commitment</strong></h4><ul><li>Three (3) one hour virtual sessions: various times over summer</li><li>Virtual outreach to new students : early August</li><li>In-person training: August 19–22, 2026</li><li>In Person Program: August 23 through September 1</li><li>Weekly virtual outreach during the first 6 weeks of the fall semester</li><li>Two hours of event support in September or October.</li></ul><h4>What You Get</h4><p>Woolies receive a $750 stipend, all work-related meals during in-person training and program core dates, early move-in to fall housing with all early move-in fees waived (for on-campus residents), and free Welcome, Retrievers! apparel.</p><h4>How to Apply</h4><p>Applications open March 2 and close March 27 at 11:59 PM.</p><br><p>Questions? <Title>UMBC Talks: Inclusive Excellence</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><p>Inclusive excellence has long been a cultural touchstone at UMBC. Before now, we haven't had a definition or any other shared language to describe what we mean. This is your chance to inform our definition. Leaders in the Division of Institutional Equity have drafted a framework for inclusive excellence, and we want your input! </p><p>The framework aims to articulate our community's shared commitments in a way that can communicate our values, guide action, inspire new collaboration, and support the development and implementation of UMBC's next strategic plan.</p><p>Join The Centers for Social Justice Dialogue and Democracy and Civic Life for UMBC Talks, which are 90-minute, co-facilitated dialogues designed to support your engagement with the framework. Each UMBC Talk will be the same, so please sign up for the one that best suits your schedule. We hope to see you there. Come and leave your mark on this important moment in UMBC's history. </p><p>Spring Semester Open Forums</p><p>Friday, April 10, 2:30 - 4:30 p.m., UC 312 -Foregrounding faculty and staff experiences but open to everyone, with opportunities for all participants to be in conversation with people with similar UMBC affiliations.</p><p>Wednesday, April 15, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., UC 312 - Open to everyone.
