Our deepest condolences go out to those affected by the Las Vegas shooting, hurricanes, earthquakes and other natural disasters that have taken hundreds of innocent lives over the past few months. We understand that some of you may need some time to process these current events and may need a space to feel safe and supported. 

We want all UMBC students, staff and faculty to know that the Mosaic Center staff has always and will continue to be a space for all UMBC community members to share, grieve and seek information on additional supportive spaces on our campus. CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS! We are looking for the Art Week 10-Second Motion Challenge. You can submit your work at http://commonvision.umbc.edu/art-week-2017/- and find out more info!

The Art Week 2017 10-Second Motion Challenge is a competition to create the most creative, engaging, out-of-the-box, spectacular film or animation the world has ever seen - all themed around camping. 

Submissions will be screened at the 10-Second Motion Challenge Screening - date TBD! Check back soon for more details. Submissions MUST be under 10 seconds. 

Following the competition screening will be a Film/Animation Showcase. This can be any work you're proud of and want to show off! 

Format: QuickTime, H.264 1080p

Our gallery space will be up on Mainstreet throughout the entirety of Art Week 2017. Our Art Week 2017 Zine (small, full color magazine) will be distributed throughout the week. 

There is no theme tied to our general gallery - we are just looking for awesome work! Submit to Art Week and get one piece (up to 24 x 36) printed for FREE at commonvision, while supplies last.

Catonsville, MD:  The UMBC Student Government Association would like to congratulate Senator and Speaker of the Senate Gerardo Herrera-Cortés on their recent election to the position of Vice Chairperson of the University Steering Committee.

The University Steering Committee is composed of two representatives from each of UMBC's shared governance groups -- the Faculty Senate, the Professional Staff Senate, the Non-Exempt Staff Senate, the Graduate Student Association, and the Student Government Association.  The Committee meets monthly to advise the UMBC President and administration on policies affecting the campus community, including shared governance, with several different shared governance subcommittees reporting to the Steering Committee.

As Vice Chair, Gerardo will support the Chair and the members of the University Steering Committee in the activities and projects of the Committee.  Congratualations, Gerardo!
