The LEADERSHOPS series consists of workshops that focus on various student centered leadership-related topics facilitated by Campus Life staff and student leaders.

The LeadHERship Problem - Monday, March 8th @ 12pm - 1pm
Facilitated by: Nailah-Benā Chambers (SGA Senator), Beatriz Gutiérrez-Malagón (Coordinator for Leadership)
  • In honor of International Women's Day, Leadershops is creating a special leadership workshop focused on women! The LeadHERship Problem is about taking a deeper look into the relationship between women and leadership. Attendees will learn about how our socialization affects our views regarding our own identity and our capacity to lead. This session will also explore how these messages show up in the world around us, and in what ways we can liberate ourselves from it.

The Multicultural Leadership Experience (MLE) will:
  • Engage up to 20 undergraduate students in a leadership learning cohort;
  • Enhance participants' leader identity and leadership capacity;
  • And increase participants awareness of personal abilities and identity development through authenticity, self-reflection, the role they play in developing relationships, and capitalizing on difference

Based on the belief that leadership is learned through experience, education, and reflection-- MLE will focus on leadership development through a multicultural lens, create a dynamic virtual learning environment, and invite UMBC students to learn with and from UMBC faculty, staff, and alumni. The Leadershops series consists of workshops that focus on various student centered leadership-related topics facilitated by Campus Life staff and student leaders. This program aims to contribute to the leadership development and ongoing learning of UMBC undergraduate students. 

The following are the fall 2020 Leadershop sessions that are being offered for students to register:

Developing & Refining Leadership Skills in a Virtual Setting
Monday, September 21st at 12:00pm 
This session will explore virtual and in-person perspectives, and provide participants with tools, tips and ideas about how to enhance their virtual leadership capacities.

Going Farther Together
Monday, October 26th at 12:00pm 
Attendees will learn about the leadership process through team-building and capitalizing on difference.

The Author of Your Leadership Story
Monday, November 16th at 12:00pm 
This workshop focuses on self-authorship; defining and creating you own individual sense of self, and making yourself as you go on your college journey.
