• An inquiring mind and the ability to assess and assemble information in a way that tells a story
• A student or recent graduate in business, planning, economics or other research and commerce related fields; knowledge of economic development is preferred
• Preferably one year of work experience or education in regional economic research, economic development research, or related field
• The ability to present and convey information in simple, logical and effective ways
• PC and software skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; the ability to use other programs, such as Access, InDesign and Photoshop are desired, but not required
• Knowledge of the Greater Baltimore region and an enthusiasm for its success and growth

Marketing Graduate Assistant for the Division of Professional Studies at UMBC.

Typical Duties :

• Maintain data files and  facilitate the distribution of mass email distributions
• Assist  in maintaining social networks (Twitter, Facebook, myUMBC) in an engaging, yet appropriate manner
• Occasionally designing flyers and hand-outs
• Distribute flyers across campus
• Regularly conduct internet research and compile/summarize efforts
• Contribute to discussions/brainstorms about marketing content and design
• Assist with other day-to-day marketing projects, such as video production and participation at in-person events

Qualifications:

• An outgoing and responsible graduate student, or senior who plans to stay at UMBC for graduate school

These two programs replace all former paid internships (e.g. Student Temporary Employment Program, Student Career Experience Program, Cooperative Education Program, Stay-in-School Program, and the Summer Clerical Program).

The Internship Experience Program (IEP) allows for non-temporary appointments that are expected to last the length of the academic program for which the intern is enrolled.  IEP participants, while in the program, are eligible for noncompetitive promotions. 

The Internship Temporary Experience Program (ITEP) places interns on temporary appointments not to exceed one year with the possibility of extensions in one-year increments.  The temporary nature of ITEP allows for interns to work during seasonal and holiday breaks in academic programs. ITEP participants are ineligible for noncompetitive promotions.  If an ITEP participant is qualified at a higher grade level, he/she must compete for the position via a USAJobs vacancy announcement.

Both programs allow for noncompetitive conversion into the competitive service following successful completion of all program requirements.

2013 NASI Summer Internship Programs

The National Academy of Social Insurance (www.nasi.org) is now accepting applications for it's paid internships for students studying for or interested in careers in
    social insurance policy. 

The internship programs cover a wide array of
    policy areas including Health and Income Security Policy (Washington Internship), Aging and Long-term Care Policy (Somers Internship), Disability Policy (Eileen Sweeney Internship), and Non-profit Management (Nathan J. Stark Internship). 

The programs consist of a 12-week summer semester internship that usually spans May to August,depending on the student’s college schedule. Students receive a $3,500
    honorarium for their internship experience. International
