    <div class="html-content"><br><div><div><strong><br></strong></div><div><strong><u>The deadline for application submission is Monday, February 15, 2020  Only COMPLETE applications and essay responses 400 words or more in required format will be accepted.</u></strong></div><div><strong><u><br></u></strong></div><div><strong>*THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD WILL BE APPLIED TOWARD SPRING 2021 TUITION* </strong></div><h5><strong><u>The Samson, Rosetta A., and Saddie Feldman Award</u>   $700</strong></h5><div><p>This scholarship is awarded to students who have completed their junior year of studies and have demonstrated, through community service and academic activities, an understanding of the responsibilities of citizenship.</p><p>The Samson, Rossetta A. and Sadie B. Feldman Family Award for Citizenship was established in January 1996 by Sadie B. Feldman in memory of her family.</p></div><div><br></div><div><div><div>1. Please describe your understanding of the responsibilities of citizenship as demonstrated through community service and academic activity.</div><div><br></div><div>2. Discuss why your service organization is important to the population it serves. Thinking back on your service-learning and community engagement experience, did the organization address a symptom or a root cause of an issue impacting the population served? Explain.  </div><div><br></div><div>3. How has your service-learning experience(s) impacted your continued involvement at UMBC and engagement in the broader community?  </div><div><br></div></div></div><div><br></div><div><h5><strong><u>Samuel I. Rosenberg Fund Award</u>   $900</strong></h5></div><div><div>This annual award will recognize a student at UMBC who has completed an outstanding apprenticeship within the citizenship and public policy initiative.</div><div><br></div><div>Established in April 1995 by Samuel I. Rosenberg, this award is given to a UMBC student (any year) who has completed a public service-focused internship, with either a nonprofit or government organization, directly addressing a social challenge.</div></div><div><br></div><div><div>1. <Title>Reminder: Dresher Center Summer Research Fellowship</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div><strong>Please note the following change: Full-time Professors of the Practice are now also eligible to apply for these fellowships.</strong></div><div><strong><br></strong>
    </div>
    The Dresher Center for the Humanities, in conjunction with the College 
    of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) and the Vice President 
    for Research, invites applications for Dresher Center Summer 
    Fellowships. Proposals are welcome from all full-time, tenured or 
    tenure-track UMBC faculty as well as full-time professors of the 
    practice pursuing humanities research in the College of Arts, 
    Humanities, and Social Sciences. Funding is intended to support and 
    promote significant humanities research at UMBC. Fellows will receive 
    support for summer research and the completion of a book manuscript, a 
    major article, or a project of similar stature. Funding may also be used
     for assistance in developing extramural funding applications, including
     grant and fellowship applications, and book proposals.<br>

    Applications will be reviewed by the Dresher Center Advisory Board. 
    Fellows (individuals or groups) will receive $6,000 per award. Between 
    one and three fellowships will be awarded.<br>

    Steiner, UMBC's Vice President for Research, for a virtual lunch series 
    to discuss UMBC’s Research and Creative Achievements (RCA).  All 
    questions and RCA topics are welcome, but we anticipate that some of the
     dialog will address individual challenges faced in conducting RCA 
    activities during the pandemic. </p><p><span>All 
    members of our UMBC community are invited to join in on these recurring 
    virtual lunches that are scheduled from 12:00 to 1:00 pm on alternating

These scholarships enable students to take our courses in statistics, data analysis, and quantitative methods.<br><br>These scholarships provide fee waivers to attend our <a href="https://umich.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4de0acf23f8cd9a943b256ebd&amp;id=4c76b65962&amp;e=1c14fef5ae" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">four-week sessions</a>. The first session begins June 21 and ends July 16, and the second begins on July 19 and ends August 13. Courses will be fully online again this summer, allowing participants to learn from anywhere in the world. Lectures are recorded; there is no need to stay up until all hours of the night (unless you really want to).<br><br>Courses include introductory and advanced regression analysis, time series analysis, Bayesian analysis, machine learning, rational choice theory, SEM, MLE, game theory, longitudinal analysis, multilevel modeling, social choice theory, race/ethnicity and quantitative methodology, data visualization, data science and text analysis, and more.<ul><li><a href="https://umich.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4de0acf23f8cd9a943b256ebd&amp;id=3d50f05bfd&amp;e=1c14fef5ae" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Clogg Scholarship</a>: Open to students conducting research in Sociology</li><li><a href="https://umich.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4de0acf23f8cd9a943b256ebd&amp;id=33bbeb6184&amp;e=1c14fef5ae" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Clubb Scholarship</a>: Open to students conducting research in Quantitative History or related fields</li><li><a href="https://umich.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4de0acf23f8cd9a943b256ebd&amp;id=c1d362fcb1&amp;e=1c14fef5ae" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Diversity Scholarship</a>: Open to graduate students from under-represented groups.
