This event will highlight Baltimore communities and stories through conversations about the past, present, and future of the city. Participants will explore questions about equity, identity, immigration, and belonging and discuss how residents' experiences are shaped in and through their neighborhoods. <Title>EXTENDED UNTIL TOMORROW AM! We can all use a few more hours!</Title>
<Tagline>2016-17 France-Merrick Scholarship Program</Tagline>

    <div class="html-content"><p>The Shriver Center coordinates this undergraduate scholarship program, funded by the <strong>France-Merrick Foundation</strong>. After 20 years, this scholarship remains available for students who demonstrate an exemplary commitment to service, leadership, and civic engagement on the UMBC campus and in Baltimore City.   The France-Merrick Scholarship Program seeks to combine service and reflection, build relationships, and strengthen networks to affect meaningful change.</p><p><strong>Fellows</strong> are awarded a scholarship that goes towards tuition, mandatory fees, and room and board expenses.  This will not exceed $15,000 for Maryland students, $22,000 for out-of-state students.  In 2015-16, Fellows will engage in service connected with Baltimore City;  serve in leadership roles (which includes convening meetings for the France-Merrick Scholarship Program), support meaningful professional development, and serve as ambassadors of service at UMBC.  For 2016-17, <strong>two Fellows</strong> will be selected.</p><p><strong>Scholars </strong>are awarded a scholarship of up to $1,500.  In 2015-16, Scholars will engage in service connected with Baltimore City, support meaningful professional development, participate in meetings, and serve as ambassadors of service at UMBC.  For 2016-17, <strong>five Scholars</strong> will be selected.</p><p>Applications for the 2016-17 cohort is in the FINAL week.  As a reminder, the <strong>t<span>imeline is:</span></strong></p><p>Monday, March 7, 2016 – On-line applications open </p><p><strong>EXTENDED until Tuesday, April 5th, @ 9am!</strong></p><p>Monday, April 18 – Friday, April 22, 2016 – Selected students invited for interviews</p><p>Monday, April 25, 2016 – Recipients notified</p><div><br></div></div>

    <div class="html-content"><p>The Shriver Center coordinates this undergraduate scholarship program, funded by the <strong>France-Merrick Foundation</strong>. After 20 years, this scholarship remains available for students who demonstrate an exemplary commitment to service, leadership, and civic engagement on the UMBC campus and in Baltimore City.   The France-Merrick Scholarship Program seeks to combine service and reflection, build relationships, and strengthen networks to affect meaningful change.</p><p><strong>Fellows</strong> are awarded a scholarship that goes towards tuition, mandatory fees, and room and board expenses.  This will not exceed $15,000 for Maryland students, $22,000 for out-of-state students.  In 2015-16, Fellows will engage in service connected with Baltimore City;  serve in leadership roles (which includes convening meetings for the France-Merrick Scholarship Program), support meaningful professional development, and serve as ambassadors of service at UMBC.  For 2016-17, <strong>two Fellows</strong> will be selected.</p><p><strong>Scholars </strong>are awarded a scholarship of up to $1,500.  In 2015-16, Scholars will engage in service connected with Baltimore City, support meaningful professional development, participate in meetings, and serve as ambassadors of service at UMBC.  For 2016-17, <strong>five Scholars</strong> will be selected.</p><p>Applications for the 2016-17 cohort is in the FINAL week.  As a reminder, the <strong>t<span>imeline is:</span></strong></p><p>Monday, March 7, 2016 – On-line applications open </p><p>Monday, April 4, 2016 – Applications will close at 5 pm</p><p>Monday, April 18 – Friday, April 22, 2016 – Selected students invited for interviews</p><p>Monday, April 25, 2016 – Recipients notified</p><div><br></div></div>

    <div class="html-content"><div><span>The Baltimore Corps Fellowship connects professionals to high-impact roles in nonprofits, social enterprises and government agencies around Baltimore City. They focus on local organizations that have solved daunting challenges on a neighborhood level, but face challenges in maintaining their quality as they bring their models to a city-wide scale. </span><br><br><span>Fellowships are one-year, full-time, paid commitments, with potential to hire the Fellow full time at the end of the year. Each Fellow gains an immersive work experience, professional development opportunities and extensive individualized support. Co-founded by Wes Moore, Baltimore Corps incentivizes long-term retention by building Fellows’ social capital here in Baltimore.</span><div><br></div><div>The program is now accepting applications for the 2016-17 Cohort of Fellows. The application can be found at: <a href="http://www.baltimorecorps.org/apply/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">http://www.baltimorecorps.org/apply/</a> and is due by <span><span>April 15th, 2016</span></span>. </div></div><div><br></div><div>For interested students, <strong>an information session will be held on <span><span>Tuesday, March 22nd</span></span> from <span><span>7-8:30pm</span></span> in </strong><strong>Commons 331.</strong></div><div><br></div><div>At this information session, learn about the  Baltimore Corps:  their mission, their work, and their vision for years to come.  Learn about programming, meet current Fellows, learn about what attendees are studying and are passionate about, and ask questions about the Fellowship program.
