USU Health Professions Expo - December 1

The Association of Military Surgeons of the United States (AMSUS) is the Society of Federal Health Professionals and is meeting at the Gaylord National Harbor for their annual conference. As part of this event, we will be hosting a pre-health fair for interested students on Friday, December 1st from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.

Attached is a flier with the broad details. In addition to physicians, we will have dentists, optometrists, veterinarians, PAs, NPs, and other health professionals on site. We will be joined by Army, Navy, and Air Force HPSP, and we will have some of our Simulation Center equipment on site for demonstrations, plenaries discussing federal health careers, and more.

This event is free (the cost is covered by the military), and the only expense is parking.

The Emergency Physicians at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, MD are currently hiring students/alumni to work as their scribes. The scribe will work one on one with board certified emergency physicians helping to create the medical record for each patient evaluated by the doctor. It is an exceptional opportunity for any student interested in medicine to gain first-hand experience following a physician in an emergency department setting. The chance to shadow an emergency physician one-on-one provides valuable exposure to real medicine in action. Furthermore the students will be paid $10/hour for their time.
