    <div class="html-content">Epidemiology is the interdisciplinary study of the patterns, causes, and effects of disease in populations of interest.  Epidemiology is the backbone of public health and is frequently used to inform public policy, clinical medicine, health interventions, and to target programs to appropriate populations. This course is a broad introduction to methods and measures in the field of epidemiology with a focus on applications to real world public health examples and issues.  This course may be of particular interest to students seeking careers in public health, health policy, medicine, allied health fields, sociology, or psychology.  Interested students who have taken statistics but do not have the full pre-req are encouraged to email the professor at <a href="mailto:trevitt@umbc.edu">trevitt@umbc.edu</a> to determine if the remaining pre-req can be waived for this summer section.<div><br></div>
    <div>PREREQUISITE WAIVER: This course is open to all majors. Prior HAPP or SOCY course prerequisite requirements will be waived for this class. SOCY 301 recommended. For a waiver please contact Prof. Jamie Trevitt at <a href="mailto:trevitt@umbc.edu">trevitt@umbc.edu</a>.</div>

    <div>Scholarship was established by the student organization to</div>
    <div>recognize outstanding academic achievement by Health</div>
    <div>Administration and Policy majors. </div>

    <div>The scholarship will be awarded to one student for the amount of $250.</div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div><ol>
    <li> Be a declared Health Administration and Policy Major</li>
    <li> Have achieved at least junior standing and be actively enrolled in the semester the award is given and must not exceed financial aid limitations</li>
    <li> Have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement bymaintaining a cumulative 3.5 GPA for at least two consecutive semesters at UMBC.</li>
