Burkman Scholarship – DUE DECEMBER 1, 2016 Students who meet criteria apply by 12/1/16 The Barbara E. Burkman HAPP Scholarship Award was established and endowed by a graduate of the program. The award is given to a student who has demonstrated academic stature and scholarly/creative activity in their chosen discipline. 

In order to qualify for consideration of this award, the student must meet the following criteria:

  •  Be a declared Health Administration and Policy Major for at least two semesters before applying.

  • Have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement by maintaining a UMBC CUM 3.5 GPA for at least two consecutive semesters.


    In addition, the applicant must provide the selection committee with:
  • A 1-2 page statement of why you chose HAPP as your major and how the HAPP major connects with your career goals.
  • One academic letter of recommendation
  • Current resume
