A message on behalf of Beth from CCONDMV:
The second annual Access to Higher Education: Educators & Immigrant Youth Summit conference is fast approaching!
Read more in the flyer and agenda, attached to this post.
When? March 23rd from 8:30a.m. - 5p.m. (registration from 8:30a.m. - 9:15 am)
Where? Montgomery College - Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus
What? Participate in workshops, round-tables, and strategy sessions to build skills and organize around issues and policy that impact access to higher education for immigrant youth.
Who? Open to K-16 educators and staff interested in becoming an ally for undocumented students on their campus or within their communities, parents who want to learn options for their children and ways to support them to go to college, and high school and college students interested in organizing at their schools and learning more about college opportunities.
Why? Students are currently experiencing increased threats and anxiety regarding their immigration status in the U.S and what this means for participating in higher education. This summit will give you the skills to increase access to educational opportunities, connect you with like-minded folks in the DMV area, and provide an understanding of the political context and ways to get involved to create meaningful change.
RSVP/registration is strongly encouraged as space is limited. Breakfast and lunch are included.
