They are looking for students from a range of different backgrounds, majors, and experience levels. Students at the undergraduate and graduate level are welcome to apply. Peers continue to serve as dynamic student leaders to this campus with the help of many campus partners in Student Affairs.

What’s the (T)ea?: “Taxation Without Representation”

"What's the T?" a phrase originating from Black Gay Ball Culture, circa
1970-1989, that indicated someone was the "T"alk of the "T"own, hence the "T". "What's the T? - means "What's up? What's going on?" This is a monthly
co-facilitated discussion series geared to exploring social issues affecting our
society and various communities. This session will elaborate on how voting laws have historically affected various marginalized communities and explore what voting rights mean for people today. This session will specifically focus on the limitations of noncitizens, folks under the voting age, and residents of D.C. and U.S. territories.

The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is a residential student honors society focused on service and recognition for exceptional leaders on campus. We host several service and recognition events a semester, including Sandwiches for Service PB&J making and Trick or Treat for the YMCA preschool kids. 

This year, we have instituted a new membership status called "Candidate Membership" that allows residential students to have a trial period in NRHH before committing to full membership. Getting inducted to full membership signifies the candidate is a strong residential leader. 

Both applications and nominations for candidate membership are currently open and will remain open until April 17th. An information session will be hosted about NRHH and membership in the Harbor MPR on April 10th at 7pm. There is no fee to participate in NRHH. Anyone interested in joining NRHH should fill out the Candidate membership form for themselves, and if they wish to nominate a friend, that friend will be linked to the Candidate membership form and will need to complete it to be considered. Do you have a professor that you think is amazing?  Do they interact and help students?  Residential Life is seeking nominations for Faculty Mentors for the 2018-2019 academic year.  Faculty Mentors spent time each week in an assigned community helping to foster out of classroom interactions with students, providing resources for academic success and social programs too!  Nominating a professor is easy!  Just send a short e-mail to me (clurman@umbc.edu) with the professor’s name, their department, and a sentence or two as to why you are nominating them for this position.  Help us make this program a success again next year!
