What is the syllabi archive initiative?\r\n\r\nAn initiative that will provide faculty with a mechanism to post syllabi for each course/each semester that would be archived into a central repository. The syllabi archive would be made accessible to individuals with a UMBC login. While it is not possible to establish a formal policy requiring all faculty to post syllabi at the end of each semester (intellectual property rights issues), it has been deemed important to pursue a mechanism to make the option available.\r\n\r\nSome background: In Spring 2013, the SGA reached out to the ASEC and the ASAC to request consideration of a policy (require faculty to post syllabi) much like the one recently passed at the University of Maryland, College Park. Following various conversations, ASEC and ASAC agreed to support SGA in the initiative with the understanding that this will only be pursued as a technical option - not a formal policy.

Status Summary: Yvette and Arnold met with Jack to discuss approaches for faculty to load their syllabi. Decided we will leverage the existing digital measures process which allow faculty to upload their CV's. Will work on a stand alone site that allows people to search for uploaded syllabi. More than one semester's syllabi can be loaded here. Will work with Collier to create a front end display (myUMBC application) of the syllabi. Arnold will discuss at the next SAAAC meeting. Yvette will talk to Amanda to update her on this project. Arnold and Yvette will discuss which departments to approach to begin this process in the Fall. Molly will arrange a meeting with Collier to discuss uploading syllabi in myUMBC. This will be a multi-year implementation.

Per conversations of the ASEC and ASAC, there is a request to further explore some technical possibilities that could enhance the incomplete grading procedures in a systematic way. Some of the technical considerations include:\r\n \r\n Incomplete Grading Contracts \r\n� Can electronic contracts be implemented such that faculty can specify the terms of agreement? \r\n� Can this information automatically populate in advising notes?\r\n \r\n� Can students/faculty/advisors get a copy of the incomplete grading contract via email and/or alerts? \r\n \r\n� Can the terms of agreement (specific time limits be set and enforced ? \r\n\r\n� Can students and faculty have an I grade summary report and receive reminders about time limits?\r\n\r\nRegistration/Degree Audit \r\n� Can students be blocked from registering for a course that they currently have an I grade in? \r\n \r\n� Can I grades show up on the degree audit?

Status Summary: Registrar's Office management met with Amanda Knapp to review the current proposal and specs. While supportive of the overall concept the Registrar's Office wishes to have follow-up discussions the development team working on this project to determine whether the contract process could include workflow that would automate the changing of grades when contracts were completed and the changing of Is to failing grades in cases where contracts were unfulfilled. Without this additional step there are concerns that implementation would create additional confusion and opportunity for error. We would like to hold these discussions over the summer and report back to the group in September.

I\'ve been in a few discussions recently in which we\'ve noted the benefit/usefulness of having student group and student attribute information displayed in the Advising Profile. There is a general consensus that having this information available in the Advising Profile would be extremely helpful to the academic/faculty advisor. For example, knowing that the student was admitted to the accelerated bachelors/masters program (student group) would help the advisor in guiding the student on their course selection in their junior and senior years. Another example that came of this week was the attribute for veterans. Knowing the student was a veteran (self reported by the student) would help the advisor in recommending some useful resources such as our vet-2-vet program.

Project Description
I\'ve been in a few discussions recently in which we\'ve noted the benefit/usefulness of having student group and student attribute information displayed in the Advising Profile. There is a general consensus that having this information available in the Advising Profile would be extremely helpful to the academic/faculty advisor. For example, knowing that the student was admitted to the accelerated bachelors/masters program (student group) would help the advisor in guiding the student on their course selection in their junior and senior years. Another example that came of this week was the attribute for veterans. Knowing the student was a veteran (self reported by the student) would help the advisor in recommending some useful resources such as our vet-2-vet program.

The items that have changed are:
Status Summary: There appears to be parallel projects to categorize/organize student groups. One effort lead by Mike Glasser and one by Ed Kelly. Need to bring two efforts together. Arnold will set up meeting with Mike, Ed, Kevin and Yvette.
