Fostering Interdisciplinary Collaboration --- SIAM Fall 2018
A Cross Section of Math and Biology
Wednesday, November 14, 2018 · 11 AM - Noon
We've all heard about the importance of interdisciplinary studies, and how collaboration with experts in different fields can yield significant scientific progress. But what does a productive interdisciplinary collaboration look like?
We've invited Dr. Asaf Keller from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Dr. Kathleen Hoffman from the UMBC Department of Math and Stat to speak on their ongoing collaboration in the field of mathematical biology.
Dr. Hoffman and Dr. Keller hope to give a complete story of how they work together: from how they began their collaboration, to obstacles they've overcome, and how they use their respective expertise to discover significant results. Their talk will give invaluable insights for emerging researchers, and be followed by a Q and A session.
Join your SIAM student chapter at UMBC for this special event!
Lunch will be provided!
