    <div>Calling all Visual Arts majors and minors, we at Bartleby would love to encourage you to submit your creative work for a chance to be published in our next volume!</div>

    <span>Our annual issue has a gorgeous full-color glossy 16-page insert for the artwork, not to mention the front and back cover! <strong>Go to our website </strong></span><a href="http://bartleby.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">bartleby.umbc.edu</a><strong> </strong><span><strong>to check the submission guidelines.</strong> </span><span>It's easy to submit your work!</span><span> </span><br>

    <span>Each section--including the art section, as well as the fiction, poetry, and creative nonficiton sections--will also have a $100 prize for the best work!</span><div>
    <br><strong>The deadline for submissions is November 1st.</strong> If you'd like to get involved with helping our staff put this year's volume together, here is a link to <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScZj4VBoHEw2_CnfLm6Ah3z3tuEtsgnOaWwYpQXm7n-_JL72Q/viewform" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">our staff application form</a>! We'd love to have your help reviewing the submissions and voting on the pieces to be published in the journal. (It's a good resume booster, too!)<div><br></div>Check out our events too: we will have a Writing Workshop on October 9th at 12pm in PAHB 428, in collaboration with the Creative Writing Club to provide peer feedback on your Bartleby submissions or personal work.     <p><span>The 2024 Sweaty Eyeballs Animation Festival returns with the most cutting-edge animated short films from around the world. The fest will be taking place at multiple venues in Baltimore City and Towson from October 18-20, 2024. Including 4 international shorts competition screenings, a Baltimore showcase screening, a Young Audiences screening, Animator Retrospective and talk by Miguel Jiron (Los Angeles), and a live performance by Duo Kinetica. Along with the screenings of the festival there is also a corresponding exhibition of animation process art and expanded animation titled </span><span>Sweaty Eyeballs: Animation Adjacent </span><span>at Area 405 Gallery. Adding to the film screenings and talks there will be free animation workshops run by students and after parties at the Area 405 gallery.</span></p>

    <p><span><strong>Sweaty Eyeballs is looking for enthusiastic lovers of animation to join our squad of volunteers.</strong> Here is what we are looking for:</span></p>
    <p><span><strong>VOLUNTEERS:</strong></span></p>
    <ol>

    <li><p><span>We will accept students or non-student volunteers who are interested in helping out with the festival.</span></p></li>
    <li><p><span>All volunteers must dedicate a minimum of 6 hours during the week of the festival October 18-20, 2024.</span></p></li>
    <li><p><span>Volunteer tasks may include the following: ticket check-in, ushering, staffing information tables, setup and breakdown of merchandise tables, setup and breakdown for events, photographing events, recording video of events.</span></p></li>
    </ol>

    <p><span>Volunteers will have access to view screening programs of the festival for free, dependent on how many hours they volunteer/work.</span></p>

<Title>Resume Printing for the Career Fair</Title>

    <span>The Career Fair is Wednesday, September 18!</span><br><p>commonvision can help with resume printing! To help with the process email us the following to: <a href="mailto:commonvision@umbc.edu" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">commonvision@umbc.edu</a>:</p>
    <ul>
    <li>Your file</li>
    <ul><li>If it's a Google doc be sure permissions are set to be viewed by everyone</li></ul>
    <li><p>How many copies you would like</p></li>
    <li>Single or double sided (if applicable)</li>
    <li>Color or black &amp; white</li>
    <li>Paper type, we have a couple of options:</li>
    <ul>
    <li>Our standard paper for color or b&amp;w</li>
    <li>Resume paper (an additional .30 per sheet)</li>
    <li>If you would like to decide this in person after seeing the paper that is fine</li>
    </ul>
    </ul>
    <br><p><em>Please note that we will only print these once you come into our office. We will treat these emails as walk-ins and won't have them printed ahead of time.</em></p>
    <br><p><strong>We only accept Retriever Dollars as payment.</strong> You can put cash on your card at the CIC (Commons Information Center) desk in the Lobby of The Commons or put money on your campus card via myUMBC </p>
    <br><p>Alternatively, you can use the <a href="https://doit.umbc.edu/news/post/53720/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">mobile print kiosks</a> to print. <a href="https://umbc.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/faq/pages/30744009/Pharos+Mobile+Printing" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Instructions on how to use the kiosks </a>may be of help. A few notes about the kiosk:</p>
    <ul>
    <li>The printers can only print in black and white</li>
    <li>8.5 x 11" (letter size) is the only size it prints - any other size will cause the printer to lock up/not print so be sure to check your settings.</li>
    </ul>
    <p>Be sure to give yourself enough time to have your prints completed, we will do our best to assist you in a timely manner. <strong>There will be lines and wait times the day before and the day of the Career Fair - consider printing early!</strong></p>

We will select approximately 30 works that we will print and showcase. Other selected jpegs will be featured in a slideshow displayed in this space. If your work is selected, you will receive a signed letter of congratulations from Kimberly Moffitt, Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.</span></div>

    <p>commonvision is looking for Office Assistants to join our team!</p>
    <p><strong>Undergraduate UMBC Students with availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays are preferred.</strong></p>
    <p>commonvision is UMBC's Design and Print Center, located in The Commons, Room 309. We are a full service print shop as well as a design and animation studio. Our Office Assistants are responsible for print job order intake and are trained on print and production services. A great job for hands on, creative students who want to learn more about print production and graphic design.</p>
    <p><strong>Office Assistants</strong></p>
    <p>You do not have to be a visual arts major to apply to this position! This position requires working the front desk, so you will be the face and voice of commonvision.</p>
    <p>Applicants Must:</p>
    <ul>
    <li><strong>MUST be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays for at least 3 – 4 hours each day between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.</strong></li>
    <li>Be highly dedicated &amp; organized</li>
    <li>Have at least 2 semesters left at UMBC</li>
    <li>Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher</li>
    <li>Pass a judicial and OEI check</li>
    <li>Be able to work at least 10 hours a week</li>
    </ul>
    <p>We’re looking for students with:</p>
    <ul>
    <li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills</li>
    <li>A great sense of organization and planning</li>
    <li>A sense of humor</li>
    <li>Ability to work without constant supervision</li>
    <li>Comfort with learning new technology</li>
    </ul>
    <p>Bonus points if:</p>
    <ul>
    <li>You have customer service experience</li>
    <li>You have an interest in visual arts, design, and/or animation</li>
    <li>You have an interest or are involved in student events</li>
    <li>You have an interest or experience in photography</li>
    <li>You make us laugh</li>
    </ul>
    <p>Your personality is along the lines of:</p>
    <ul>
    <li>Self-motivated</li>
    <li>Team-oriented</li>
    <li>Attentive to details</li>
    <li>Manages time and deadlines well</li>
    </ul>

    <p>The exhibition will open for regular hours on Friday, September 20, and will continue through December 14.</p>

    <div class="html-content">commonvision will be <strong>closed</strong> Thursday, August 22 and Friday, August 23 for internal staff training. <div><br></div>
    <div>Our summer hours of 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. will continue on Monday, August 26 and Tuesday, August 27</div>

    <div>Our fall operating hours will begin on the first day of classes, Wednesday, August 28. We will be open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. starting that day. </div>
