commonvision can help with resume printing! To help with the process email us the following to: commonvision@umbc.edu:

• Your file
• If it's a Google doc be sure permissions are set to be viewed by everyone

• How many copies you would like

• Single or double sided (if applicable)
• Color or black & white
• Paper type, we have a couple of options:
• Our standard paper for color or b&w
• Resume paper (an additional .30 per sheet)
• If you would like to decide this in person after seeing the paper that is fine
• If you are an undergraduate or graduate student

Please note that we will only print these once you come into our office. We will treat these emails as walk-ins and won't have them printed ahead of time.

We only accept Retriever Dollars as payment. You can put cash on your card at the CIC (Commons Information Center) desk in the Lobby of The Commons or put money on your campus card via myUMBC (there is a $10 minimum).

Alternatively, you can use the mobile print kiosks to print. Instructions on how to use the kiosks may be of help. A few notes about the kiosk:

• The printers can only print in black and white
• 8.5 x 11" (letter size) is the only size it prints - any other size will cause the printer to lock up/not print so be sure to check your settings.

Be sure to give yourself enough time to have your prints completed, we will do our best to assist you in a timely manner.

ATTENTION UMBC student organizations! 

Involvement Fest is quickly approaching. commonvision (UMBC Design and Print Center) is here to help with your Involvement Fest prints! 

UMBC (and commonvision) is closed Monday, September 4 for Labor Day. This gives commonvision 2 full business days to print materials needed for your clubs. Please note at this time, we can offer flyers and quartercards for Involvement Fest. Other services will have a turnaround time that extends beyond Involvement Fest. 

For best consideration, please submit your flyers and quartercards by 5 p.m. Friday, September 1 via commonvision@umbc.edu. Any clubs using carryover funds will need to provide us with a completed RESGAF before printing will begin. Please note outside of chartstrings/club funds we only accept retriever dollars on your campus card.

Something to consider is printing a couple flyers that stay at your table that contain a QR code to your organization's myUMBC group. This may help us to cut down on printing demand and make sure that even if you run out of materials, you still have something people can scan.

Dear students:

Please consider registering for this amazing asynchronous online course for Fall 2023! 

If you’d like to create art at the same time as you study art history, this is the course for you! For this Art History course (ART350), students will research and write about artwork by 20^th-21^st century Latin American artists, as well as have the option (not required) to create at least one work of art (such as painting, sculpture, fiber art, photography, animation, film, etc,) inspired by artists studied during the course. Students will have the option to create artwork, that is, respond visually to a Latin American artists' work of art, instead of only responding to that work by writing about it. This is a great way to stretch your creativity while also studying art history.

ART 350-01 20th-21st Century Latin American Art

Course description: 

This course examines a broad range of artists, artwork, and artistic trends from many Latin American countries within their cultural and historic contexts. We will explore the emergence of the Latin American aesthetic in art within the context of cultural nationalism by looking briefly at the 19th century and then focusing on artists active during the 20th and into the 21st century. We will study Latin America's indigenous and African heritage, its colonial past, as well as political and religious themes in Latin American art and their relationship to European and North American cultures. Students will become familiar with major artistic trends (such as Muralism, Constructive Universalism, and Neo-Concretism) and some major artists from Latin America. We will also explore why the distinct-and problematic-category of "Latin American" art has emerged in academia and the international art world.

Students will also have the option (not required) to create at least one work of art (such as painting, sculpture, fiber art, photography, animation, film, etc.) inspired by the work of a 20^th-21^st century Latin American artist studied during the course.

This course is an asynchronous online course.  There is no time or date associated with the course. This course is self-paced. Students follow instructions online and upload their work to the BlackBoard site.  

Prerequisite: ART 216 or ART 221 with a grade of 'C' or better or permission of the instructor. Please email me to let me know if you need permission to register for the course.
