    <div><br></div>Patterns are easily found in daily life. In this exhibition, life is found in patterns. <div><br></div>
    <div>Students from Lansdowne High School were introduced to vector software and will showcase their design skills in pieces inspired by their favorite things. This exhibition is inspired by the students' visit to the CADVC exhibition, "<em>A Designed Life: Contemporary American Textiles, Wallpapers and Containers &amp; Packages, 1951-1954," curated by Professor Margaret Re, Visual Arts.</em>
    </div>

    <div class="html-content">I am writing to inform you of some upcoming events at the JICC that may be of interest to you and your students.
    <p> </p>
    <p>First of all, we will be holding a lecture, <strong>"Combining
     Origami Art &amp; Product Design? Surprising Opportunities for Societal
     Impact," this Friday, November 9th, at 6:30pm with doors opening at 6pm</strong>.
     The featured lecturers, David
     Morgan and Larry Howell from Brigham Young University, will show how 
    the traditional art form of origami is now impacting product design in 
    applications as diverse as spacecraft, consumer products, and surgical 
    instruments. The lecture is held in conjunction
     with our current exhibition: “Folding the Future” Theoretical Origami 
    Devices.” This event is free and open to the public, but registration is

    opened up applications for two spring 2019 internship opportunities to 
    students currently enrolled in a four-year degree program with two or 
    more years of undergraduate study completed or currently enrolled at the
     graduate level. We would like to encourage your students to apply to 
    these positions if they align with their career goals. The application

    <p>The Creative Alliance at the Patterson is super excited to expand and start new Creative Alliance After School programs this year at Tench Tilghman Elementary/Middle and John Ruhrah Elementary/Middle Schools for K-8<sup>th</sup> grade students. They’re <em>massive <u>and</u> awesome</em>!</p>
    <p> </p>
    <p>They have two visual art teacher openings for K-1<sup>st</sup> grade at $35/hr and looking for teachers with a minimum 2 years’ experience. See attached.</p>
    <p> </p>
    <p>They would love to host student tutors as volunteers, with various incentives as part of the Creative Alliance team. See attachments.</p>

    <p><strong><span>Rome, Italy, July 3 – 31, 2019</span></strong></p>
    
    <p><strong><span> </span></strong></p>
    
    <p><em><span>This program includes two Visual Arts courses, ART329
    Topics in Art History: Roman Visual Culture and ART369/392 Topics in
    Photography, Art, Media: Mobile Imaging in Italy, for a total of 6 undergraduate
    credits. </span></em><em><span>Both courses engage the
    rich history and architecture of Rome, analyzing and exploring it through new
    technologies and social media.<span></span></span></em></p>
    
    <p><span> </span></p>
    
    <p><span>Both courses can be used to fulfill the following requirements:</span><span></span></p>
    
    <p><span> </span></p>
    
    <ul>
     <li><span>For the BA/BFA in Visual Arts, ART329 will fulfill
         requirements for the Art History portion of all VA concentrations</span></li>
    </ul>
    
    <ul>
     <li><span>For the BA/BFA in Visual Arts, ART369/392 will fulfill
         requirements for the Photography concentration or it can be used to count
         as an art elective in any of the other VA concentrations</span></li>
     <li>
    <span>For Global Studies majors, the program
         fulfills the Study Abroad requirement </span><span></span>
    </li>
     <li><span>Both courses can be used to fulfill
         requirements for general electives</span></li>

This talk is presented in conjunction with "A Designed Life," on display at the CADVC through Dec 8.</span><br><br><strong>Designing America's Face in the Cold War</strong><br><strong>Beverly Payeff-Masey</strong><br><strong>Tuesday, October 23</strong><br><strong>7:00 p.m.</strong><br></span><strong>Fine Arts Building, Room 306</strong><span><br><strong>UMBC</strong><br><br>Design historian Beverly Payeff-Masey will document the intersection of post-WWII American Modernism with the international political and cultural realities of the Cold War through her talk, "Designing America's Face in the Cold War." Beverly will present the work of Buckminister Fuller, Charles and Ray Eames, Chermayeff &amp; Geismar, and George Nelson as well as other architects and design professionals who worked on behalf of the United States International Agency in creating the American presence at international expos and World's Fairs beginning in 1958. This lecture is part of AIABaltimore's architecture month.</span>
