Title: Executive Administrative Assistant I, Administration and Auxiliary Services

Years in Student Affairs/UMBC: 3 years

UMBC parent? My older son is a junior in computer science here and has been accepted into the accelerated masters program. My younger son is in his first year at Towson University.

What is something you do as part of your position that people may not be aware of?

It's not part of my position, but definitely a part of my life - I helped start the Neurodiversity Affinity Group, and I serve as the advisor for the student Neurodiversity Club. I regularly advocate for neuroinclusiveness, whether that's at meetings and events, or in classrooms and offices. I'm also on the Retriever Essentials Advisory Board and the Student Affairs Strategic Planning Committee.

What is one of the most important things you’ve learned during your time here?

Get involved! We tell students this all of the time. While we're all at different stages in our life, there really is something for everyone, whether it's collaborating with other departments or joining an affinity group, volunteering with Retriever Essentials, or bringing your family to the outdoor movies.

What is something you like to do for fun and/or is something you are passionate about?

I'm from Philadelphia originally, so I am a passionate sports fan (go birds), and I love history. I recently discovered that one of my ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War and was stationed at Valley Forge – and 250 years later, I can still walk those same paths.
