Motivational Monday TEDx of the Week

<Tagline>5 steps to remove yourself from drama at work</Tagline>

Looking for a dose of inspiration to start your week? No need to look any further. Each week, we curate talks on topics that matter NOW for all of us related to resilience, self-care, dealing with uncertain times, as well as ways to stay connected, inspired, and grounded when the earth beneath us is shifting.

Today's talk is 5 steps to remove yourself from drama at work by Anastasia Penright. No matter your industry, you've experienced drama at work. In this funny and all-too-relatable talk, community leader Anastasia Penright outlines five steps you can follow to better coexist with your coworkers and focus on what's really important.

After you watch, we invite you to reflect on the following:

What resonated for you in the video?

What lived experiences do you have, either personally or professionally that align with the core message of the talk?

As you think of your role as a student, employee, or manager what feels relevant and useful to remember?

What are you taking away that feels meaningful - either a new perspective, a potential action, etc.

How might we take better care of ourselves and each other during this time?

If you're a supervisor, consider using this talk for team building purposes! You might send the video ahead of your meeting with several reflection questions on which you'd like your staff to come prepared to speak.

Motivational Monday TEDx of the Week

<Tagline>How to make work-life balance work</Tagline>

Looking for a dose of inspiration to start your week? No need to look any further. Each week, we curate talks on topics that matter NOW for all of us related to resilience, self-care, dealing with uncertain times, as well as ways to stay connected, inspired, and grounded when the earth beneath us is shifting.

Today's talk is How to make work-life balance work by Nigel Marsh. Work-life balance, says Nigel Marsh, is too important to be left in the hands of your employer. Marsh lays out an ideal day balanced between family time, personal time and productivity -- and offers some stirring encouragement to make it happen.

Earthworms increase air and water into the soil horizon, and usually, their presence is an indicator of a healthy soil system rich in nutrients and organic matter. Think of them as tiny tillers that incorporate organic matter, air, and water into the soil.

<Tagline>The difference between being "not racist" and antiracist</Tagline>

Kendi. There is no such thing as being "not racist," says author and historian Ibram X. Kendi. In this vital conversation, he defines the transformative concept of antiracism to help us more clearly recognize, take responsibility for and reject prejudices in our public policies, workplaces and personal beliefs. Learn how you can actively use this awareness to uproot injustice and inequality in the world -- and replace it with love. (This virtual interview, hosted by TED's current affairs curator Whitney Pennington Rodgers and speaker development curator Cloe Shasha, was recorded June 9, 2020.)
