Welcome to fall kick off at UMBC! We are so excited to start the semester in community with all of you!
Initiatives for Identity, Inclusion & Belonging (i3b) helps faculty, staff, students, and students develop the knowledge, awareness, and skills to cultivate an inclusive and social justice-oriented campus community. In short, we provide student-facing diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice programming, leadership development, dialogue facilitation, and training, in addition to lounge and community building spaces in our three identity, inclusion, and belonging spaces across campus.

Join us TODAY for in-person open houses in our three identity, inclusion, and belonging spaces: The Mosaic: Center for Cultural Diversity, The Pride Center, and The Gathering Space for Spiritual Well-Being. Stop by in between your classes or meetings to learn more about our spaces and how they support, affirm, and celebrate our students. - Join Initiatives for Identity, Inclusion & Belonging (i3b) for our annual Campus Partner Connect
The i3b Campus Partner Connect/Lunch & Learn is a session geared toward new faculty and staff joining our UMBC community. During this 45-minute session, we will introduce participants to who i3b is and how we support students. We will also share opportunities and updates on our semester initiatives, how you can engage with us, and highlight campus partners supporting underrepresented and/or marginalized UMBC students. Lastly, attendees will also learn how i3b can provide consultation, training, and workshops for your classroom, department, or staff team.

Women's Center Fall '22 Hours, Services + Resources
Welcome back, we hope to see you soon!
Women's Center Fall 2022 Hours of Operation:
Beginning on the first day of classes, the Women's Center will start welcoming community members into our physical space!
In order to protect our collective health, we encourage social distancing while in the lounge space, and may enforce capacity limits for larger events. In addition, we ask that community members continue to wear masks in our spaces.
Our Fall Hours are:
Mondays through Thursdays: 11am - 5pm
Fridays: 11am - 4pm
While we are physically open, the Women's Center will also continue to provide support and services virtually Monday through Friday to those who are learning and working remotely. We encourage campus community members to contact us through email at womenscenter@umbc.edu or via phone at 410-455-2714.
Individualized Support Meetings:
Women's Center professional staff are available for individual meetings and support which we can provide in-person or via phone or video chat. Drop by or to schedule an appointment, email womenscenter@umbc.edu or call 410-455-2714.

From July 1 - August 8, i3b will be operating virtually. This means that all three spaces will be physically closed. During this virtual time, we will be onboarding new staff, cleaning and reorganizing our spaces, and training student staff. While we will be largely virtual, we are still happy to connect with students and community members, provide services, and meet virtually or in person. Please connect with us to schedule an in-person appointment as needed.

Initiatives for Identity, Inclusion & Belonging (i3b) is accepting applicants for our next Advisory Board cohort to join our returning members.
Highlights:

- If selected, you will be expected to attend the mini-retreat, held on Friday, July 22 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, and should expect to attend 2-3 Advisory Board Meetings per semester, held on Fridays from 10:00 - 11:30 am.
The Initiatives for Identity, Inclusion & Belonging (i3b) Advisory Board is a community of UMBC faculty, staff, (undergrad/grad) students, and alumni committed to fostering an equity-focused, justice-oriented, and inclusive campus community. Through the support of i3b programming, advising and consultation with i3b professional staff, and advocacy for i3b and its three identity, inclusion and belonging spaces: The Mosaic, Pride Center, and Gathering Space for Spiritual Well-Being, the Advisory Board will serve as a direct tie to faculty, staff, student, and alumni needs, voices, and ideas. Through the partnership with Advisory Board members, i3b hopes to cultivate new community connections, leverage existing strategic partnerships, and contribute to a stronger sense of belonging, especially for underrepresented and minoritized students, through informal mentorship and collaborative planning for new and existing programs and initiatives.
Board members should expect at minimum to meet monthly for one hour, are expected to attend at least one i3b event or program a semester, and volunteer for at least one large-scale event per year like PAWTalks, Pangea, Lavender Celebration, and/or Connection Groups like First-Year Connections, SistaCare, and Retriever Immigrants United (RIU). Board members will be appointed for a two-year term.
Both members of UMBC’s Main Campus and Shady Grove Campus are eligible to apply.
- Eligibility requirements for students include being a full-time UMBC student 12 hours undergraduate, 9 hours graduate), a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA, and being in good academic standing. In addition, students must be connected to other student communities on campus (e.g. SGA, GSA, student organizations, scholar community members). If you are graduating within one year of your term, it is expected that you will continue in your role as young alumni.
- Eligibility requirements for staff and faculty include at least 1 full year of employment at the university.
- Eligibility Requirements for alumni must have been connected to alumni chapters or organizations (e.g. Alumni Board of Directors, CBLA, CYA) or student communities during their time on campus (e.g. SGA, GSA, student organizations, scholar community members)
