His book, “Grace Before Meals, Recipes and Inspiration for Family Meals and Family Life,” outlines philosophies he teaches both in church and on his online cooking show, “Grace Before Meals.”

eXtensible Dynamic Form (XDF) for Supplier Discovery

Discovery of suppliers (supplier discovery) is essential for building a flexible network of suppliers in a supply chain. The first step for supplier discovery is to collect manufacturing capabilities of suppliers and requirements of customers. In traditional e-marketplaces, online form interfaces are typically used to collect the requirements and capabilities. However, those forms are mostly lack of flexibility to capture a variety of requirements and capabilities in a structured way. In this thesis, we propose new innovative form architecture called eXtensible Dynamic Form (XDF) to facilitate data collection process of supplier discovery.

This architecture provides several key innovations including: 1) architecture for users (suppliers or customers) to create new structure of form for their own contents; 2) an intelligent search engine facilitating users to reuse the existing form components 3) hierarchical representation of the requirements and capabilities as XML instances. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed architecture is valuable for facilitating the supplier discovery process.

Recovering from Soft Node Failures in
Wireless Sensor Networks using Neural Networks

In the past few years, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have become important in different applications because of their robustness in hostile environments. WSNs need to perform in a timely manner in the face of interference, attacks, accidents, and failures. Being a battery operated system, there is a trade-off between performance and energy utilization. In this thesis we focus on WSN accuracy and consider ways to improve the performance of WSNs when sensors become damaged, resulting in poor input signal quality. When all other components of the sensor like the processor, memory, and battery are working, our proposed solution is to learn to undo the damage in a node by training on neighbors sensor values.

Are you graduating from college this year? Need a Job?

Maybe you should move to Chicago. This article from the Chicago Sun-Times says job prospects for new graduates in the Windy City are looking good this year.

But things are promising elsewhere in the country as well. The article notes

Employers will hire 19 percent more new college graduates nationally this year than they did in 2010, according to a survey released this month by the National Association of Colleges and Employers

After several dire years for college graduates, this news is very welcome. Hopefully this economic vitality will continue providing new job opportunities for future graduates as well.

When a president’s name is Goodluck, you expect good things from that country.

That’s not the case in Nigeria, where 500 people were killed in riots following the recent election of Goodluck Jonathan as President.

Tension in this country is not new but this current outbreak of violence might have international implications.

Nigeria is Africa’s most populous nation and one of the world’s major suppliers of oil.

Like so many problems around the world today, Nigeria’s problems stem, in part from religion.

The country has deep religious and ethnic divide between its Christian south (where Jonathan is from) and Muslim north.

According to the Open Society Justice Initiative, the last time the violence got this bad, the government was overthrown.

With all the corruption present in Nigeria, can you even believe the results of the election? Apparently, yes. Analysts have called Johnathan’s decisive victory one of Nigeria’s fairest elections yet.

The riots then, may be attributed to Northern frustration that the South is controlling the government for a second term, after a history of switching governments between the North and South every election.

Not exactly the most uplifting news.

Especially with local elections being held next week which might lead to more violence.
