Hello Retriever Entrepreneurs! 

Do you have an idea that you would love to share with a community of entrepreneurs to receive feedback? This event is your opportunity!

The Alex. Brown Center’s next event of the semester will be held Friday, TODAY from 11:30-1pm in University Center 310!

The Idea Pitch Day event is a great time to get feedback on your idea or existing business and find other students that might be interested in helping you as well as learning more about the CBIC. This is the perfect opportunity for students who want to enter the competition to informally pitch their idea to an audience as a way to receive feedback in a casual, relaxed setting.

If you aren't sure you're ready to submit an idea, that's OK! This event is a great time to get feedback on your preliminary idea or existing business, and to find other students interested in helping you. It will also give you a chance to learn more about the ABCEI's competitions and events.

Students, faculty, alumni, and members of the business community are welcome to attend!  We hope to see you there!

Treasurer

• managing fundraising

• developing and managing events

• exploring and sharing the history of the organization

• managing the organization's funds and ensuring compliance with all financial rules and guidelines

Secretary

• managing member recruitment/retention

• managing communication within the group

• developing and managing events

• exploring and sharing the history of the organization

• recording and archiving information from meetings and activities

Public Relations Coordinator

• manages social media accounts

• manages the organization’s Google Drive folder

• creates official forms and documents on behalf of the organization

• in charge of promotion in GroupMe

• manages the Tau Sigma GroupMe

• responsible for creating flyers and promotional material for events

President (2026 Term)

• leads the Tau Sigma chapter and oversees all E-Board members

• sets goals and direction for the organization

• serves as the main point of contact with UMBC and Tau Sigma National

• chairs meetings and represents the organization at official events

Vice President (2026 Term)

• assists the President and steps in when needed

• supports coordination across the board

• helps lead events and internal initiatives

• provides mentorship and helps ensure continuity in leadership

My name is Peggie Chan, and I am part of the research team at the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing, led by Eun-Ok Im, Ph.D., MPH, RN, CNS, FAAN. We are currently conducting several important research studies and are in the process of recruiting participants, one of which is the project on cancer pain management for Asian American Breast Cancer Survivors. We wondered if you could share the flyers with your Asian American community.

 

 

The following is the summary of the research project:

 

We are looking for an Asian American woman aged 18 years and older who has had a breast cancer diagnosis in the past; can read and write English, Mandarin Chinese, Korean or Japanese; has access to the Internet; and identifies their sub-ethnicity as Chinese, Korean, or Japanese. Eligible participants who agree to join the study will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups. Depending on the group that you are randomly assigned, you may or may not be asked to use the technology-based program. You will be asked to 1) use the educational information (the American Cancer Society breast cancer survivorship website that is provided by the research team), or 2) participate in the online forum and 1:1 coaching/support program. Participants will be asked to complete a questionnaire three times. Your participation will last about 3 months. After the program is finished, each participant will receive $50 e-gift card, totaling up to $150. Please note that your participation is voluntary, and you can withdraw your participation at any time.
