Our donation window for Save-a-Swipe has opened! Save-a-Swipe is a program that supports UMBC students who are facing financial hardship and experiencing food insecurity.

If you have excess meal swipes in your meal plan, please consider donating to the Save-a-Swipe pool so your extra meals can be distributed to students in need. Each donated swipe will directly contribute to providing one "meal" to students in need.

Healing from Family Challenges is a six-week group that provides psychoeducation and skills that help address the effects of adverse childhood experiences. It helps the members to recognize how these past challenging experiences might be impacting their current functioning and helps individuals identify healthy ways of coping with their experiences. Students transition from surviving past experiences to thriving in the present. The group creates a safe and supportive environment to develop an alternate way of looking at the past and develop a sense of meaning and purpose that help them thrive today.

Wednesdays, 3:00 PM-4:30 PM beginning February 19

The first step to joining any group is to complete an Initial Consultation appointment. Please call us at 410-455-2542 or visit the RetrieverCare portal to schedule.

For general group questions, or if you need accommodations for a disability, please send a secure message to CC Front Desk via the patient portal at least one week prior to the start of group and RIH will arrange for services.

VITA prepares taxes on Saturdays from Feb 8 - April 5 in the Apartment Community Center.  Appointments are required.  More information is on our website, umbc.edu/vita.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is an IRS-sponsored program that provides free, tax return preparation to eligible individuals and families each Spring semester.  Volunteers complete a rigorous training program and pass an IRS certification exam every year.  Individuals and families who wish to come to the UMBC campus and have their income taxes prepared must meet IRS eligibility criteria. A few of the criteria include:

You must have a Social Security card for each person listed on the tax return.

Your household income must be less than an amount set each year (typically around $65,000).

You can't be an international student or scholar (F, J, M, or Q Visa or Teachers or Trainees on a J Visa)

Your tax return must not require forms related to small business losses, virtual currency sale, certain cancellation of debt types, and several others.
