Samantha is currently a MDST student pursuing her B.A. in Individualized Study with an academic focus on Business Technology and Administrative Support, and a minor in Information Systems. Samantha is the Executive Administrative Assistant for the Office of Academic and Pre-Professional Advising and the Registrar’s Office at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Samantha is an active member of the Enrollment Management Administrative Assistant’s Workgroup at UMBC. She is also a member of the American Society of Administrative Professionals (ASAP), and a recipient of the PACE certification. 

Samantha was nominated by her colleague Ken Baron, PhD, Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Advising and Student Success at UMBC, saying: "She (Samantha) is now closing in on her final semesters of degree completion at UMBC. We are so proud of her achievements and the strategic manner in which she has chosen to complete her degree using foundational principles associated with ASAP as a professional association. Samantha's affiliation with ASAP has provided her with a 'future-facing' skillset and perspective on the scope and nature of her work, along with increased confidence and a sense of purpose associated with her degree."

Over winter break the Women's Center Lounge will be closed, though staff will be available virtually and can be reached over email:  womenscenter@umbc.edu or lallen4@umbc.edu

The Women's Center will re-open in advance of the Spring Semester on 1/27/2025.

This is a great chance to come study together, or take a break from studying and make some ornaments! Snacks and materials will be provided!

Today (December 11th), we will offer content tutoring for select classes (drop-in only) and some appointments for writing, during StudyCon. Today is the last day of tutoring for the semester, so make sure that you drop in and ask all of your final questions before finals.

The Dresher Center for the Humanities would like to host a writing group during the 2025 Winter Session. This would be a writing accountability group format where we come together and write.

The format is flexible, but the group would ideally work three times a week for up to two hours in a hybrid format. The Dresher Center conference room (PAHB 216) could be available for those interested in writing together on campus. Additionally, lunch could be offered after one or two writing sessions.

The Fund for Education Abroad Scholarship is now open for students who are interested in studying abroad and demonstrate financial need. The application closes on February 5th, 2025 at noon. You can find more information here or under the Scholarships section of our website.
