Tulane Health Policy Case Competition
The Tulane Health Policy Case Competition allows teams of undergraduate students to apply their talents and knowledge to put together a solution to a given health policy program. Students will have an opportunity to interact with school faculty in the course of constructing their solutions. Top teams will present their solutions to a panel of experts for detailed feedback.
Teams of up to three undergraduate students create policy-based solutions to a given problem. A workshop will be provided shortly after the case is released. Teams will construct PowerPoint presentations on solutions to the problem. Finalists will present to a panel of judges for real-time feedback.
2024 Case Prompt
This case asks teams of undergraduate students to apply the lens of health policy analysis to the crisis of injuries in New Orleans. New Orleans is in one of the lowest-ranked counties for years of life lost to injury according to county health rankings. While much attention has been paid to injuries due to gun violence, other areas of injury (e.g., roadway deaths, carbon monoxide poisoning, etc.) In this scenario, the city has set aside $500,000 annually for an innovative solution to address these excess deaths. A good policy will leverage existing city infrastructure as appropriate and include detailed breakdowns of the costs of the policy package.

PracticePro is now accepting applications for the 2024 Pre-Law Diversity Scholarship cycle, for individuals planning to apply to law school in Fall 2025 (for admission to the Class of 2029).
Financial barriers and a lack of guidance often prevent underrepresented students from attending law school.
The PracticePro Pre-Law Diversity Scholarship provides students with the resources to navigate the law school admissions process and prepare for fulfilling legal careers.
Through the Pre-Law Diversity Scholarship, PracticePro aims to cultivate diverse talent at the earliest stage by helping underrepresented pre-law students secure acceptances to top law schools and prepare for legal recruiting and practice.
Scholarship recipients will receive:
- Up to $1,500 in reimbursements for the costs of an LSAT prep course and LSAT exam
- 12-month curriculum focused on law school admissions, preparing for a fulfilling career as a lawyer, financial planning, and mental health
- Individual admissions and career coaching, including application strategy, personal statement idea generation and review, legal resume drafting, scholarship negotiation, and more
- Mentorship from their law firm and legal department partners
- Free admission to PracticePro’s law student career conferences to get a glimpse of the future!
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Junior or Senior in college or graduated college in the last five years;
- Applying for admission to law school in Fall 2025 (Class of 2029);
- Minimum 3.2 undergraduate GPA; and
- A personal background that contributes to the diversity of the legal profession, including but not limited to gender, racial, or ethnic groups historically underrepresented in the legal profession, the LGBTQ+ community, those with a disability, socioeconomic need, military experience, first-generation educational status, or any other considerable hardships, challenges, or life experiences.

We have our regular meeting tonight from 6-7PM, and this time we will be in Fine Arts 301 (this is hopefully where we will be the rest of this semester!). Bring whatever you choose to write with, those manuscripts or a blank page, and let ideas bounce around in your brain!
Mark your calendars, it looks like things are finally getting sorted out and that this will be our regular meeting time and location. I'm very excited that the kinks are being ironed out. If things somewhy change, we'll be sure to update you.

SEA CIRTL Fellows Program Ͼ
Teaching Opportunity, Summer Job $ - Deadline September 20
Summer Enrichment Academy (SEA) CIRTL Fellows Program
SEA CIRLT provides one-week camps for middle and high school students to stay engaged, have fun learning new skills, and get excited about higher education at UMBC. These SEA CIRTL fellows will develop and implement a SEA one (1) week course in a topic of their choice (appropriate to middle schoolers/high schoolers) with guided mentorship in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025, and implement the course with SEA in Summer of 2025.
Fellows will be required to attend a variety of sessions that help them solidify their course ideas, learn about teaching approaches that are accessible and engaging for high school and middle school students, and plan their course. This will all count toward a CIRTL certificate, which is a nationally recognized teaching certificate! Upon teaching the course in Summer 2025 and completing all the professional development activities, Fellows will be paid a $1000/week for 1 week if the course runs.
Note: Courses are run as half day camps for a week (5 days), and Fellows will be able to choose two choices of weeks of these five options: June 23-27, July 7-11, July 14-18, July 21-25, July 28 - Aug 1. Please complete
