University System of Maryland Shared Governance Survey

<Tagline>Share your thoughts by June 21</Tagline>

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Council of University System Staff (CUSS) and the Council of University System Faculty (CUSF), we are seeking your participation in a brief survey to gauge your awareness of and the strengths and growth opportunities for shared governance efforts on your campus and within the University System of Maryland. When functioning properly, shared governance, for those who are unaware, is a system where committee(s) of faculty, staff, and students advise campus/system leadership on policies/procedures/issues, giving a voice to all three groups.

This survey is anonymous (the survey platform will not collect any identifying information from respondents, including IP and email addresses) and should take no more than five minutes to complete. The responses of this survey will be analyzed, aggregated, and shared with the leadership both on your campus and at the University System of Maryland.

The deadline for responses is June 21, 2024. The link to complete the survey is: https://umdsurvey.umd.edu/jfe/form/SV_0PwGK52PmIRDCOa

Going up for promotion and/or tenure? Let us know!

Greetings, WFNers! It is that time of year again, when those of us going up for promotion and/or tenure are getting our materials together and drafting our statements. We'd love to help!

Please email Kate at drabinsk@umbc.edu if you would like to have access to our database of self assessments written by faculty at every stage of promotion and tenure, whether on the tenure or lecturer track.

Also, if you have recently gone up for promotion or tenure and are willing to share your statement with others, please email it to Kate as well.

Finally, let us know if you would like to be paired up with a reader for direct feedback. We pair up folks who are at the level you are aiming for, and it can be really helpful to have a pair of eyes that doesn't know a lot about your field, as committees are often diverse. Let us let you know what makes sense to a smart but general reader! We'll circle back near the end of the summer to make sure everyone gets the readers they need.

Happy summer from the Women's Faculty Network!
