Good news! Employees no longer need to wait until the annual enrollment period to enroll in or make changes to their USM MetLife benefits. (USM = University System of Maryland)

Starting Monday, April 1, 2024, if you are a Regular or Contingent II (C2) employee, you can enroll in the USM-sponsored MetLife Term Life insurance & Long-Term Disability benefits, make changes, or cancel your benefits anytime during the year. 

Already enrolled and not interested in making changes? Your current coverage will continue seamlessly; no action is required.

If you are outside of your initial 60 days of USM employment and want to enroll in USM MetLife coverages, you will need to provide evidence of insurability (medical underwriting) to be approved for USM MetLife coverages. To complete your application, look for the "Start Your Statement of Health" button during enrollment.

MetLife will review your application and notify you of their decision and the effective date of your coverage.

Please note: USM MetLife coverages are not available in the SPS Workday system. Workday is the State's online system that administers State health benefits only. USM MetLife coverages can be found in the USM MetLife portal here: metlife.com/USMD.

CYBER MOVIE NIGHT

With the halfway point of the semester being passed, the board wanted to offer everyone a meeting where they could relax, enjoy a movie, and get some free food and drinks!

That’s right—tonight is a Cyber Movie Night! We will be showing WarGames. The movie will be in Commons 331, so please do NOT go to ITE 231. We will start the movie at 7:10 PM, so make sure you arrive early (anytime after 6:45 PM) to grab a seat and food. No Webex tonight, for legal reasons.

Free Food and Drinks?
Yes, there will be pizza, drinks (soda/water), popcorn, and candy!

WarGames (1983)
High school student David Lightman (Matthew Broderick) unwittingly hacks into a military supercomputer while searching for new video games. After starting a game of Global Thermonuclear War, Lightman leads the supercomputer to activate the nation's nuclear arsenal in response to his simulated threat as the Soviet Union. Once the clueless hacker comes to his senses, Lightman, with help from his girlfriend (Ally Sheedy), must find a way to alert the authorities to stop the onset of World War III.

As a reminder, this week's submissions for the CyberPaws CTF challenge will close at the start of tonight's meeting. Remember to submit your flag! Also, if you would like a hint, you can DM a board member to receive one.
