Honestly, this is going to be a great conference! So good you might want to bring a friend!!
We will have a great round table conversation about adjunct issues with our President, Dr. Valerie Sheares-Ashby!
We will have fabulous presentations by adjuncts on their research interests (all recipients of our AFAC conference travel grants).
We will have discussions around research, publishing, and advocacy. There's so much there to learn and grow from!
Lastly, it's a chance to meet your fellow adjuncts in a shared space. To build community and help build bridges between departments, colleges, and colleagues.
Did we mention, free food?

Come Out 10/2 and Pitch Your Idea!
Hello everyone! Do you have an idea that you would love to share with a community of entrepreneurs to receive feedback? This event is your opportunity!
The Alex. Brown Center’s next event of the semester will be held NEXT Monday, October 2nd from 11:30-1pm in Commons 331!
The Idea Pitch Day event is a great time to get feedback on your idea or existing business and find other students that might be interested in helping you as well as learning more about the Idea Competition. This is the perfect opportunity for students who want to enter the competition to informally pitch their idea to an audience as a way to receive feedback in a casual, relaxed setting.
If you aren't sure you're ready to submit an idea, that's OK! This event is a great time to get feedback on your preliminary idea or existing business, and to find other students interested in helping you. It will also give you a chance to learn more about the ABCEI's competitions and events.

Stanley, Amatya, Emberson part of NASA SOY Award for LHASA
"NASA has awarded the prestigious NASA [2023] Software of the Year (SOY) Award to a team of scientists and engineers at the Earth Sciences Division of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. The team received the SOY award for developing a data-driven software tool called the Landslide Hazard Assessment for Situational Awareness (LHASA) version 2.0." The SOY award is very competitive and "is NASA's highest commendation for software excellence."

Caregiving Survey for the Faculty
Dear Colleagues,
The
Committee for Faculty Care and Belonging (formerly the Faculty
Caregiving Advisory Committee) seeks to better understand the
post-pandemic needs of faculty members who serve in caregiving roles,
the way those caregiving roles interact with their faculty roles, and
the supports they receive from the university for those roles. Please
consider filling out this short survey by

and recommendations to share with the provost, the Council of Deans, and
