Come celebrate spring with the Japanese American Student Association at our first ever Spring Festival! We'll have a night full of festival games, crafts, live music, vendors, and fun activities inspired by Japanese festivals.

Try games like ring toss, Taiko no Tatsujin, shateki (target shooting), and daruma otoshi. Stop by the craft station to write your name in calligraphy and decorate a paper fan. Check out booths from independent artists, small businesses and some other UMBC clubs. You can also take part in festival challenges, a stamp rally, and raffles for the chance to win prizes.

We'll also have free Japanese snacks and drinks, and plenty of opportunities to learn a little more about Japanese culture and traditions along the way.

Food & drinks, crafts, and prizes are available while supplies last. Come early to grab some! Festival games, music, and vendors will be open to everyone all night. Bring your friends, hang out, play some games, and celebrate spring with us!

Inclusive excellence has long been a cultural touchstone at UMBC. Before now, we haven't had a definition or any other shared language to describe what we mean. This is your chance to inform our definition. Leaders in the Division of Institutional Equity have drafted a framework for inclusive excellence, and we want your input!

Join The Centers for Social Justice Dialogue and Democracy and Civic Life for UMBC Talks, which are 90-minute, co-facilitated dialogues designed to support your engagement with the framework. Each UMBC Talk will be the same, so please sign up for the one that best suits your schedule. We hope to see you there. Come and leave your mark on this important moment in UMBC's history.

Inclusive excellence has long been a cultural touchstone at UMBC. Before now, we haven't had a definition or any other shared language to describe what we mean.
Great Colleges to Work For Survey

Dear Colleagues,

UMBC has decided to participate in the Great Colleges to Work For program, a national survey designed to recognize institutions that have built great workplaces. Regardless of whether or not we are recognized, the data we receive is helpful as we continue the process of creating the best workplace possible.

This weekend, the survey will be distributed to a random selection of our faculty and staff. If you are included in this random sample, you will receive an invitation with details about the program and how to access the survey. This invitation will be sent to you via an email from Great Colleges.

If you receive the invitation, please take a moment to complete the survey. You will be representing not only yourself, but all your colleagues, so your feedback is invaluable! This is a chance to make your voice heard, and a high response rate helps ensure an accurate representation of our community. At the close of the program, we will receive reports that summarize the organizational competencies and relationships that most directly impact and influence our culture.

The survey is voluntary and completely confidential; our institution will not be able to trace results back to individuals. Your survey will be processed by ModernThink LLC, an independent management consulting firm focusing on workplace quality in higher education. They can be reached at 888-684-4658 or at surveys@modernthink.net.

If you are invited, we hope you will take this opportunity to share your honest feedback! Thank you, in advance, for your participation. Please visit Great Colleges for more resources or if you have any questions.
