Cleanup at Last!

<Tagline>Join us for the first one of the semester!</Tagline>

Good morning Retrievers!

At long last, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and we're finally getting to do a cleanup!

We'll be hitting a classic, Narnia! For those of you who are new, that's the forest-y area by Lot 23, behind Patapsco Hall.

How this is going to go:

We'll be meeting at Commons between 2:45PM and 3PM in front of the Dunkin, and leaving at 3PM for the cleanup spot together, so no worries if you're still confused!

If you can't make it to Commons, we'll post a map in our GroupMe, hop in if you haven't already! There will be a quick safety briefing at the spot before we get started, if you're new to ETF please drop a message in the GroupMe if you come late and miss it. We really don't want anyone to get hurt, and if you're confused we're always here to answer questions!

Since the areas we pick up in tend to be spread out, most of us set an alarm for 3:50PM so we can start making our way back to the main gathering spot to weigh out the trash. PLEASE DO THIS, and if you leave early LET US KNOW. Again, the areas we pick up in tend to be spread out, and in some cases can be pretty steep. If you aren't there at the end of cleanup and haven't let someone know that you left early, we will assume that you are injured and might need help.

After accounting that everyone is happy, safe, and healthy, we weigh the trash, tally it up, and take a (non-mandatory) group picture! Then we all get to go home and shower off the remnants of the woods, all done until the next week.

That's all for now, we really hope to see you there!

-The (ecstatic) Eboard!

Hope everyone is having a great week, and enjoyed Monday off!

As per usual Club this week is being Hosted in ILSB116B from 7-10pm Thursday February 26th.

As for events: Next week is the beginning of March! And you know what that means! MARCH MADNESS!!!! our yearly march madness competition will kick off! So what does this mean? For those who haven't participated before, our march madness works like the following (Subject to change):

Everyone will be given the opportunity to form teams of up to 5 members, give their team a cool name and let one of the officers know so it can be entered into the tournament. From there teams will be given the opportunity to play in 1 scored game every meeting from a themed selection chosen by our officers. The winners of said game will receive points for their team, contributing to their standings in the tournament. At the end of March each team will be given the chance to pick out some prizes (and some other potential glorious goodies) in descending order of teams based on point tallies. More details will be provided next week!

That's all for this week folks, have fun and game on!

Dear colleagues,

As you might already know, UMBC is in the process of updating the faculty handbook. This process is part of a broader initiative by the Office of the Provost and General Counsel to ensure UMBC has up-to-date policies and procedures to support the work of faculty, staff, and students.

Currently, the Faculty Handbook Revision Committee is focusing on making the UMBC Faculty Handbook more accessible and useful (for more information, see here).
At the last Faculty Senate meeting, we presented the process that the committee has followed, including discussion of the current faculty handbook organization, selection of criteria for revision of content, and potential reorganization of the faculty handbook.

The Faculty Handbook Revision Committee will be updating the Faculty Senate every other meeting (February, April, September, November, and December). We aim to share a full set of proposed changes by December 2026.
