The Language, Literacy, and Culture Program is pleased to announce that Dontae Phillips of LLC Cohort 25 successfully and skillfully presented his dissertation research proposal on May 29, 2026.

Dontae's project is titled, Analyzing the Characteristics of Students Spirituality and Restorative Justice Practices: An Exploratory Case Study for Understanding Spatial Construction of the UMBC Center for Well-Being.  After presenting his work, Dontae met with the committee to explore key questions and considerations for the research ahead.  The committee agreed that the study merits doctoral-level investigation and offered valuable feedback to help guide the next phases of research and writing.

DoIT has received numerous reports regarding issues with Webex functionality. These service interruptions stem from a large-scale event affecting the Webex service across North America, primarily affecting users' ability to sign in or start and join meetings.

We are actively monitoring the situation and will provide further updates as soon as service is restored.

Mentorship Programs for Black Girls.  Following her presentation, Kristin engaged in a thoughtful discussion with the committee about the future direction of her project.  The committee agreed that the project is worthy of doctoral research and offered valuable feedback to help guide the next phases of research and writing.

Welcome to our 2026 CNMS Summer Reading Challenge! Why a summer reading challenge? It’s essential that you keep up your reading skills during the summer because before you know it – you will be thrown right back into your textbooks and other reading-heavy assignments. Don’t let the summer deteriorate your hard-earned skills!

So what does this mean? Read ANYTHING but do it regularly! It’s like you are exercising your reading muscles and keeping them toned for the fall! Even 20-30 minutes of reading a day for at least 4-5 days of the week will help. Fiction, non-fiction, magazines, graphic novels, journals, you name it – we want to know about it!

To help inspire you, CNMS Advising will be promoting one fiction and one non-fiction book every month so be sure to follow us on Instagram @cnmsadvising, #CNMSSummerReads, and #RetrieversRead.

1. Based on the recommendation of SIG-CPU, DoIT RCD Staff have deployed a new “develop” partition that all users can access. You can read more about this in our documentation on chip partitions. 

2. DoIT RCD Staff have applied security and software patches to both our chip and RRStor clusters. 

Note that while no running jobs were cancelled, some nodes are still in a “draining” state.
