UMBC is looking to hire a new Assistant Director of Annual Giving. We need someone to help us take our program to the next level.

The new assistant director will lead fundraising efforts for the university’s crowdfunding platform; collaborate with UMBC’s Alumni Relations team and other on-campus groups to develop a robust student philanthropy program; request and manage complex data files; proactively provide an ongoing analysis of fundraising progress and reporting; manage the university’s matching gift efforts; and more.

A new University of Maryland Baltimore College Department of Chemistry program is teaming with Army and other area universities to offer college students in pursuit of associate degrees internships in nanotechnology this summer.

This initiative took its cue, in part, from a national push to increase America's pipeline of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) graduates, focusing on ways communities can contribute.

Ten students from the Community College of Baltimore County were selected from a competitive application screening to participate in the eight-week program that started in June. The summer sessions will be held primarily in University of Maryland Baltimore College (UMBC) laboratories to give students a ". . . very broad exposure to the field".

Daniel Strain, a science writer at Maryland Sea Grant, which is part of the University of Maryland and based in College Park, interviewed Dr. Shuman regarding the Antarctic Peninsula changes and how that relates to other recent changes elsewhere in Antarctica and Greenland and what that means for the Chesapeake Bay.
