Q: How long have you been at UMBC?

A: I'm a last semester senior, so I've called UMBC my home for the past 3 and a half years.

Q: What is your current title (job or student organization position)?

A: Currently, I'm the Shriver Senior Intern for Service-Learning, the Service-Learning Intern for the Education Based Latino Outreach Organization, and the Service Coordinator for SGA.

Q: In 12 words or less, what role(s) do you play on campus?

A: I help students get involved in service, both on and off campus.

Q: What aspect of your UMBC role(s) do you enjoy most?

A: My favorite thing about UMBC is, was, and will forever be getting to interact with the engaged and passionate group of human beings that we call the UMBC community. Through being involved in service, I've met people of all majors, backgrounds, and ages. Service is very much a collaborative process, and I have learned more about myself from being part of team working toward a common goal than from any other aspect of my college experience.

Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?

A: College can be one of the most formative periods of your life, but only if you're willing to approach it with an open mind. That goes for classes, majors, extracurricular activities and beyond. I'm of the opinion that if your time here is spent thoroughly inside your comfort zone then you're doing something wrong. Be wiling to change your mind and reconsider what truly makes you tick... the moments of uncertainty are really just opportunities for growth.

A: STRiVE, indie rock, red lipstick, Shark Week, & Gregor Mendel.

Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?

A: One of my favorite spots on campus will always be the Honors Floor where I lived as a freshman, but probably the best little-known spot is the balcony of the Physics Building. There's a great view from up there (high enough that it's quiet, but not high enough that you can't people-watch), and I love to just pack up all my homework on a nice day and camp out there for a few hours.
