New CADVC Outreach Project in the ‘Baltimore Guide’

An outreach project of the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture, featuring “pop-up arts events” was discussed recently in the Baltimore Guide. According to Sandra Abbott, CADVC Curator of Collections and Outreach, the “pop-ups” are so named because “they will suddenly appear in unoccupied spaces and then close down shortly thereafter.” The project, a result of a collaboration between the CADVC, the Southeast Community Development Corporation, the Highlandtown Arts District (ha!), and Glitter Thighs (a monthly queer dance party in Baltimore), will promote the potential of empty retail spaces on Eastern Ave. Read the complete article, “Pop-ups promote the potential”.

Possible Visitor at FA This Week

<Tagline>Please comment with your opinions/concerns!</Tagline>

Hi everyone.
I have just been contacted by a student who is interested in going to this week's Freedom Alliance meeting for a blogging assignment about a campus group meeting. I have been assured that no names would be used (they would be changed) and that nothing said would be specifically quoted. I don't want to give the go-ahead unless everyone who will be present will be completely okay with this, so please comment and let me know how you feel. You can also message me if you have any concerns at all. Again, I'm not going to invite the student to the meeting unless everyone is completely okay with it. I will also ask again at the beginning of the meeting to make sure that everyone present knows about the visitor and feels comfortable. They would also be bringing a friend who has been to FA in the past and is familiar with the contingencies inherent to our meetings.

Feel free to contact me (sarspi1@umbc) if you have any concerns at all.
