The Joint Center for Earth Systems Technology, a partnership between UMBC and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, recently sent research scientist Glenn Wolfe to Guam.

???????????????????????????????The Baltimore Sun reports that Wolfe will be joining a team of international researchers who are studying how the western Pacific Ocean shapes the Earth’s climate. Wolfe will focus on measuring formaldehyde to gather data on how gases move upward and alter the atmosphere.

Wolfe told The Baltimore Sun that, “This is a new frontier for atmospheric chemistry, and we are excited to see what’s out there.”

Here is some more information about my project:

The mission of our Alternative Spring Break is to learn how to leave A Better Impact and commit to sustainable living. Focusing on parks and areas of recreation, we will experience the value of these nature spaces for urban Baltimore City, suburban Baltimore County, and rural Maryland. We will engage in manual labor to help park staff with maintenance and preservation. As a service trip, we are to be humbled by our activities and open to new perspectives. Throughout the week, we will learn about native and invasive species, wildlife concerns within the park, and the Chesapeake Bay and surrounding watershed. We will reflect on and evaluate our daily habits to see where we can make more environmentally friendly choices. Armed with this knowledge, we will deepen our commitment to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship. The week will wrap up with an EDIBLE hike!

So often we talk about HUGE issues like energy, global warming, food justice etc. These are super important issues that deserve lots of attention, but I think the overwhelming problems out there makes it easy to overlook immediate actions we can take to improve our communities. Sometimes this is on a smaller scale, like understanding how we treat our neighborhood affects the Bay, which in turn affects the wildlife and tourism that is are trademarks of Baltimore. We want to encourage simple stewardship to break problems into manageable solutions and actions that can be incorporated into our lifestyle. This is about more than just organizing our recyclables, it is about actively nourishing a respect for our land and water and giving back to the people dedicated to their maintenance.

Sectionals - NO CLUE HOW EXCITING!

Practices
Bad news... I don't think we're going to be able to get a hold of any turf fields. However, we will still be having practice on Wednesday at 7:30PM and Friday at 3PM. Wednesdays will be at Banneker and Fridays will be on Erickson Field.

Fundraising
We have an opportunity to go work on an orchard and sing in jubilee as we all cut down trees or something weird for Dan's butt buddy. More information, like the date and time, will come soon, but we ask that anyone available for this join us. Plz and ty. Fuck Warrior Dash.

USAU IDs
For those of you that already have a USAU ID, go renew it right now. I don't think I need to explain further. For those that have never attended a USAU-sanctioned event, you'll need to sign up and get an ID via USAU at the following site: 
http://www.usaultimate.org/membership/usa_ultimate_membership_forms.aspx

It costs about $50 and is good for an entire year. With this, you'll be able to attend any USAU-sanctioned event (includes Wildwood, club tournaments, etc). If you plan on attending ANY tournament with Booya, this needs to be done. I don't think there's anything you have to do other than sign up for it as an individual. I'm able to add your name to our roster when we go to a tournament. Just need you to have an updated and activated ID. That includes signing their waiver. Go do it now and I won't have to bother you about it later.
