Sure, it’s possible that you’ll collect more than you can use in a single career, but the important thing is to have a good body to choose from; you never know when that obscure vector illustration of a cactus may come in handy.

Of course, if you’re not careful it’s easy to break the bank buying everything that might be useful. But don’t fret! Our sister-site, MightyDeals.com is here to rescue your wallet with a fantastic value bundle deal.

Bundle Storm must be the bundle to end all bundles. More than 30 other web design bundles have been merged to create one of the best value collections you’ll ever see. Literally thousands of stock photos, vector images, themes, actions, icons, buttons and everything else you could ever want are included.

This huge set of resources has 1800+ isolated stock images, 4500+ high-res textures and patterns, 51000+ Photoshop gradients, 1750+ vector files, 1500+ vector icons, UI kits, Photoshop layer styles, and much much more. You can even create your own company mascot with a 60 piece mix-n-match mascot set. Just look at some of what’s included:

This gargantuan bundle would normally cost $147, and that in itself would be a huge discount; but thanks to MightyDeals.com you can now get this bundle for just $47, that’s an additional saving of 68%!

Have you purchased Bundle Storm?
How do I connect a router to the UMBC Residential Network?

DoIT does not offer direct support for routers but this guide will briefly describe recommendations for configuring a router to successfully connect to the residential network (“Resnet”).

Tell Me

Before connecting the router to the Ethernet wall jack in the room, there are a few settings that must be changed. These settings can be accessed by connecting an ethernet cable from a port on the router to the Ethernet port on a computer. Using the router’s instruction manual, navigate to the router’s web interface using a web browser on the computer. The router’s web interface is often an IP address, such as 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. When the router’s web interface page has loaded, it will typically require a username and password, which can be found in your router’s instruction manual. Once you have successfully entered a username and password, you should be able to access the router’s settings. In these settings, be sure to change the default username and password for the router’s web interface and record this change.

                                Icon

DoIT provides campus-maintained wireless to all of the residence halls (Chesapeake, Erickson, Harbor, Patapsco, Potomac, and Susquehanna Halls) and to the Hillside and Terrace Apartments. If you are living in one of these buildings and installing a router, you must turn off all wireless network capabilities on the router. If you fail to do so, this may inadvertently cause interference to the campus wireless network.

                                Icon

DoIT does NOT provide campus-maintained wireless to the Westhills and Walker Avenue Apartments at this time. If you are living in one of these buildings and installing a router, you may use wireless network capabilities provided by the router. Be sure to properly secure the router using WPA2 encryption security and do not give the password to anyone. If possible, change the broadcasted SSID (example: Linksys, Belkin, Netgear, etc.) from the default name. If you log in to Resnet through a wireless network that is not provided by DoIT (eduroam, UMBC Campus, or UMBC Visitor), you are taking full responsibility for all network traffic from that router.

When these recommended settings have been changed, connect an Ethernet cable from the Ethernet wall jack to the port labeled “WAN” on the router.

At this point, navigate to “http://resnet.umbc.edu” using the web browser on the computer to register the router to be used in the Resnet system. On this page, you will be able to register the router using your UMBC username and corresponding password. If you allow others to connect to Resnet using your router (wired or wirelessly), you are taking full responsibility for all network traffic and activities.

Once you have completed these steps, you should have access to the Internet. If you do not have access, try connecting your computer directly to the Ethernet wall jack using an Ethernet cable. Navigate to “http://resnet.umbc.edu” using the web browser on the computer to register the computer to be used in the Resnet system.

This week the website of the Canton Kayak Club was hacked and the landing page changed to show the image of a man on a horse with a spear and the messages "NO WAR!" and "All Hail the Islamic world, we're here!".

"We have no idea who did it nor why someone would hack our site," club Vice President Cliff Charland said. "It is obviously something we’re not happy about."

The website had been restored to normal as of 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Charland said the club's webmaster was looking to determine how the hack occurred and how it could be prevented in the future.
8 must-watch talks for any creative

Every now and again I come across a talk that I find to be truly inspiring or informative. Over the years I’ve made sure to bookmark these talks for later reference and now, after recently revisiting my collection, I thought it would be a good time to share those that I believe all creatives should watch.

Below is a collection of eight videos that cover everything from branding to education to user experience and client relationships.

Design to challenge reality (Kelli Anderson)

Kelli Anderson shatters our expectations about reality by injecting humor and surprise into everyday objects. At TEDxPhoenix she shares her disruptive and clever designs.

From wedding invitations to Utopian newspapers, Kelli Anderson re-designs commonplace objects to go beyond their ordinary functions and create surprising experiences.

A happy grain of sand (Aral Balkan)

Aral Balkan will take you on a tour of the world around us through the eyes of an experience designer and inspire you to create experiences that go beyond usable to empower, amuse, and delight.

Introducing charm into charmless categories (Simon Manchipp)

Old models of communication were based on reach, rather than touch. Many brands reach for a wider audience, but miss their potential by failing to touch people. Simon will take you through a roller-coaster ride of SomeOne’s experiments, ideas and applications where new branding has been employed to touch a different audience, expand a brand’s repertoire or better explain not just what a brand makes, but why it makes it.

F*ck you, pay me (Mike Monteiro)

Mike Monteiro and his lawyer share advice on the importance of contracts and making sure that you get paid.

Do schools kill creativity? (Sir Ken Robinson)

Sir Ken Robinson makes an entertaining and profoundly moving case for creating an education system that nurtures (rather than undermines) creativity.

Creativity expert Sir Ken Robinson challenges the way we’re educating our children. He champions a radical rethink of our school systems, to cultivate creativity and acknowledge multiple types of intelligence.

The myths of the overworked creative (Tony Schwartz)

Time is finite, but we act as if it were otherwise, assuming that longer hours always lead to increased productivity. But in reality our bodies are designed to pulse and pause — to expend energy and then renew it. In this revelatory talk, energy expert Tony Schwartz debunks common productivity myths and shows us how to regain control over our energy so we can produce great work.

The transformative power of personal projects (Ji Lee)

Bored with his ad agency gig and the uninspiring work he was producing, Ji Lee — now Creative Director of Google Creative Lab — decided to take matters into his own hands in 2002. The result was the ad-spoofing Bubble Project, in which Lee placed blank speech bubbles on ads around New York City. The masses responded and the project went viral, gaining Lee recognition and ultimately forwarding his professional career. Here, Lee talks about how he created, financed, and marketed the project single-handedly.

Designs to save newspapers (Jacek Utko)

Jacek Utko is an extraordinary Polish newspaper designer whose redesigns for papers in Eastern Europe not only win awards, but increase circulation by up to 100%.

Could good design save the newspaper — at least for now? Jacek Utko thinks so — and his lively, engaging designs for European papers prove that it works.

Were you inspired by any of these talks?
