    <p><span>Student Belonging (formerly known as Initiatives for Identity, Inclusion, &amp; Belonging, or i3b) in the Division of Student Affairs has hosted celebration ceremonies for Latinx, Black, and LGBTQIA+ / queer students for several years. This year, we are excited to add the Asian Cultural Celebration &amp; Awards to the lineup. These three affinity events will honor and celebrate the achievements of UMBC's outstanding community members and graduating students.</span></p>

    <p><span>Light refreshments and appetizers will be served starting at 5:30 pm for all graduates and guests in attendance. </span></p>
    <p><span><strong>For those interested in attending</strong></span>, please see our myUMBC post for our RSVP Forms. These forms are designed to collect RSVPs from graduates, their guests, and community members. Graduates will also have the chance to share details about their achievements and degrees. <strong><span>Graduates who RSVP by Monday, April 28th at 6 PM</span><span>will be recognized during the event and will receive honorary graduation cords</span></strong><strong>.</strong> <span>Each event has its own RSVP form, so please refer to the specific event pages for details on dress code, arrival times, and other event-related information.</span></p>

<Title>High temperature hot water outage</Title>

    <div>Details for May 2025 High Temperature Hot Water (HTHW) Outage</div>
    <div>This is regarding the annually scheduled High-Temperature Hot Water (HTHW) system shutdown that will affect multiple buildings across campus. The HTHW system affects heat, air conditioning and domestic hot water at sinks, showers, etc. </div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>The shutdown will begin Friday, May 23 and conclude by Monday, June 9, 2025, and is part of a major infrastructure maintenance and repair to improve reliability and system performance.</div>

    <div> The food service venues at The Commons and Chick-fil-A will continue to have domestic hot water via stand-by electric water heaters. True Grits Dining Hall is not affected.</div>
    <div> RAC locker room bathrooms near the pool will have domestic hot water via stand-by electric water heaters. The pools will not be heated.</div>
    <div> Other locations will lose domestic and lab hot water service for the duration.</div>

    <div><strong>Temperature and Humidity Control:</strong></div>
    <div> The hot water outage impacts the comfort level of the air conditioning system. Building temperature and humidity controls will be closely monitored throughout the shutdown.</div>

    <p><span>Please be advised that </span><span><span>The October Nights: Calling All Lovers Tour will be at the</span> Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena, Thursday, April 24, 2025. Due to the high volume of traffic expected in and around the Arena, </span><strong>delays are anticipated on all UMBC Transit routes between 5:00 PM and 11:00 PM</strong><span>. Please plan accordingly. Please use the </span><strong><a href="https://live.goswift.ly/umbc/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">UMBC Transit Tracker</a></strong><span> or the </span><strong><a href="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/transit/posts/141279" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span>Transit App</span></a><span> for real-time bus locations and updates.</span></strong></p>

<Title>Applications Now Open for 2025-2026 CNMS Scholars Program</Title>

    <div>The <strong><a href="https://umbc.academicworks.com/opportunities/7197" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">CNMS Scholars Program at UMBC</a></strong> is a selective undergraduate initiative designed to support talented individuals interested in the advancement of women students in the sciences. This prestigious program is being sponsored by the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (CNMS) at UMBC to provide comprehensive support to students pursuing majors where women are still underrepresented, specifically: mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry, biochemistry, and bioinformatics/computational biology. The program will connect high-potential students to a community of designated faculty mentors and a myriad of campus support services in an effort to facilitate their academic success in these rigorous majors. CNMS Scholarships are for one year and could be renewable annually for up to two additional years, in accordance with funding availability and meeting program requirements as defined in an award agreement.<br><br>The application process includes uploading an application letter to the selection committee with an essay that covers three topics, as well as the submission of academic transcripts and a resume.<br><br>All applicants to the CNMS Scholars Program must have and maintain:<br><ul>
    <li>Status as a full-time student at UMBC</li>
    <li>A minimum UMBC cumulative 3.0 grade point average</li>
    <li>Declared major in one of the following STEM disciplines: mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry, biochemistry, and bioinformatics/computational biology</li>
    <li>Demonstrated interest and commitment to the advancement of women in the identified STEM disciplines</li>
    <li>Compliance with all requirements and expectations of the CNMS Scholars Program</li>
    <li>Good-standing status throughout the University</li>
