How do I sign up to receive emergency text alerts on my phone?

Tell Me

  1. Log in to myUMBC.
  2. Click the Alerts tab (the bell icon) at the top of the screen.
  3. Click the Setup e2campus Alerts link under Emergency Alerts.
  4. Select the Services tab from the menu at the top of the screen.
  5. In the Phone field, enter your mobile phone number.
  6. Select your carrier from the drop down menu to the right.
  7. Click Add SMS.
  8. The Omnilert system will send a validation code to your mobile phone. You will need to enter the code in the Validation Code box on the website.
  9. After entering the code, click the Validate button.
  10. If successful, Omnilert will show a green box stating Code Successfully Validated.

Who said the West gets to have all the fun? In an effort to save money on criminal justice costs, Maryland lawmakers proposed a bill to decriminalize possessing small amounts of marijuana, under 10 grams. This comes after a week where both governor O’Malley and Health Secretary Joshua Sharfstein came out in support of a medical marijuana bill. 
 
Maryland is on the verge of becoming the 18th state to repeal the death penalty; the bill passed the Senate by a 27-20 vote and is expected to pass in the House of Delegates.  Meanwhile, 6,695 miles away, 7 men were publicly executed this week in Saudi Arabia by a firing squad. This was a first. Normally convicts who are sentenced to death are traditionally beheaded.
