The National Institute on Aging (NIA)is looking to bring in extremely motivated, highly qualified students from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about conducting biomedical research.  The NIA would like to encourage your students to apply to the SIP.  In the past, we have had students from your institution apply, be selected for the program and have had extremely successful summers with us. 

The deadline for applying is March 1, 2013!

The personal statement is one of the key elements to a successful application to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology).  Get some tips on how to write one at our workshop on Monday, December 10.  Details below:

The United States Secret Service, Baltimore Field Office  is currently accepting applications for Summer 2013 Student Volunteer Service Program (Internship) through January 4, 2013.

Our Student Volunteer Service Program (Internship) offers many advantages, including career exploration early in a student’s academic studies, exposure to new and emerging occupations/technologies,  and offers academic credit for the work performed, as well as  work experience that may be considered relevant if the student later applies for permanent employment.  The program, however, is not intended to provide the intern with investigative or protective experience.

To be considered, a student must:

1.       Be a U.S. Citizen

2.       Be at least 16 years of age at the time of appointment

3.       Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment during the upcoming semester or quarter as a diploma/certificate/degree seeking student in high school,  or in an educational institution not above the baccalaureate level that is accredited by a recognized body

4.       Obtain an agreement from the institution to participate

5.       Maintain a satisfactory academic record of a 2.5 or better cumulative grade point average

6.       Not be a son or daughter of a current Secret Service employee

7.       Be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance
